October 2015 Weddings

I've had a look around and couldn't find a thread dedicated to October 2015 brides and grooms, and since we've all got about a year to go, I thought it was time we had one.

So I'll start off: I'm getting married on the 29th October next year. So far we have a venue, reserved our date with the registrar, booked photographers, booked a band, booked most of the honeymoon, have someone who's agreed to make our cake and have someone who's agreed to do hair and makeup. OH has an idea of what suit he wants to wear, I have a very good idea of what dress I want, and we've decided on rings (just need to make an appointment with the designer to get them priced up).

At the moment I'm getting myself stressed over stationary. I'd love to make my own but I'm just not happy with anything I've designed so far and I can't find any invitations that I really love. It's kind of getting desperate now as we need to send out the save the dates asap as our wedding is a Thursday, so people need to start booking the time off work if they want to come!

Over to you guys, how are you getting on?

    I think you're right, it's been a general 2015 thread I've been posting in!

We're getting married on 17 October 2015 and I still haven't got anything done :( We've literally just decided on a venue, but I'm waiting to get confirmation from the registry office before I book both the ceremony and reception venue. After that I hope to sort out the catering (already got a few quotes for that) and the photographer (again I already have someone in mind). I totally forgot about entertainment- should probably sort out a DJ too!

Hoping I can sort out a cake nearer the time as we want a fairly quirky one and we have yet to find anyone ideal. I'm going to try on dresses in January although I have a good idea of what I want. OH wants a tweed suit so it's just a case of him finding some suitable shops.

Ooooh thanks for the thread. We are getting married on 1st October 2015, so far we have booked the venue, the photographer, the transport, the band, catering, hair and make up and we have got our appointment for the cake tasting on 2nd December. Some of the honeymoon is booked but need to sort the rest of it out.

OH is having a tweed suit so we need to sort that out and I am currently looking for a dress I'm so fussy but I know what I want.

Save the date cards (that we have made) have been sent out, ours is also a Thursday which is why we sent them out early.

Yeah I thought I'd create a separate thread because October seemed to be very popular!

I'm also quite fussy with dresses. I know what suits me and I think I've found "the one" but I keep doubting myself. Will hopefully have it ordered by the end of the month though if it is indeed "the one".

Ooooh you're giving me the kick up the backside that I need. I haven't even tried any on yet!!! I just know that I want an 'a' line dress in a taupe colour. I will probably end up with a fitted bright white one the way I'm going :rotfl:

I only started looking because I know it can take 6-8 months for some dresses to be made and then you need alterations on top of that so you're looking at almost a year. I had seen 2 online that I loved, tried them on along with 8 others that were similar and fell in love with one of the original ones from online scouting. Then went and tried on a couple that were completely different and hated them so that just confirmed that I may have made the right choice. Going to a different store on Sunday to have a quick last minute look at other options and then will be going next weekend to hopefully order the dress (if the price is right).

  • It sounds to me like you have found the one :T

Right that's it, I really need to start making appointments. I have only been to the wedding fairs and had a look at the dresses and I can honestly say I liked about 2 of them and these 2 were well out of our budget. I always thought I would be spoilt for choice but clearly it's not the case.

Good news; We have just booked our bagpipes :D I want a solo bagpipe (for the scottish side of my family) to play when the guests are arriving and for me to walk down the aisle, he has just informed me that he will learn the song we (I) want. :j

  • Ooooh, A shiny new thread. Thank you OP for starting one.

So, We have finally managed to make a start on preparing for our wedding on the 10th October 2015.
The offers we have received has been amazing. So list below is all things we have booked / arranged.

    Church
    Reception
    Cars
    Invitations
    Cake
    Photographer

I am a little worried about my wedding dress. As I have said from day one, I was buying one from Ebay because our budget is tight. However, I am now completely terrified from some of the horror stories I have been hearing & doubt very much I can afford bridal shop prices.

Where did you all find / get your dresses and how much was your budgets? x
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy
  • My budget is £1500 but would really like to pay a lot less. Have you got any bridal factory outlets near where you live? I'm visiting here next week http://bridalfactoryoutlets.com/northwest/

Hopefully I will find something I like :o

I went there last week with my maid of honor! She's getting married in 2016 and just wanted to have a look but actually ended up putting a deposit on a dress! The girls there were lovely and there was so much choice in so many sizes! The dress she went for is a Pronovias one that retailed for about £1.5k and she's getting it for £365, which is an absolute bargain! I went to the one in Bromley on Sunday and they didn't have as much choice and the staff were not as friendly but the prices were the same as the Bolton one.

Speaking of dresses, I ordered mine yesterday. Won some tickets to a wedding show, popped along and there was THE dress with 20% off. It was an offer I couldn't refuse. Just 8 months to wait till I can see it!

  • That's brilliant news ruby_eskimo the dress you actually wanted with 20% off?? that's crazy there's no way you could refuse that. Will you have a fitting in a few months then?

I also had the Bolton one in mind to look at, which one would you recommend more? that's a brilliant price that your friend has paid. I would be made up with that!
