  • Our venue also doesn't have accommodation but the local hotel have reserved us 20 rooms at a reduced rate including breakfast and will extend this if they sell them all, so it might be worth dropping them an email.

Proofs are here and they look really good. Need to change some of the wording but other than that we're really pleased.

Excellent news... what company have you used and if you don't mind me asking how much have you paid?

  • Ladies, for those looking for a budget friendly dress I would definitely look at Kitty and Dulcie dresses.. Mine is a full length that I got for under £500 and I know they have some for sale at the moment

  • Hi ladies.

The invites sounds good ruby, Luckily I have a family friend making ours. Its her “thing” so getting it at a good price. Our cake is also getting made by a friend of a friend. So again a cost cutting measure for us.

We’re meeting with the photographer today and I am nervous. For me its one of the most important things along with the ceremony so hoping it goes well. We have had to cut back a lot to secure this persons prices but their work is 100% amazing and I would rather marry in a black bin bag than have terrible pictures.

What have you ladies actually booked / placed a deposit on? I am starting to think that I am falling behind or missing something.

    So far we have:-

    Booked the church
Booked and placed a deposit on the reception venue
Meeting with photographer & hopefully placing deposit
    Arranged cars
    Arranged invites
    Arranged cake
    Meeting with DJ
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

    I've got the following sorted:

    Booked the ceremony
Booked and paid deposit for the reception venue
Booked and paid deposit for the photographer
Booked and paid deposit for the DJ
    Booked hotel rooms

I need to get the catering sorted asap but FFIL is looking into that currently. I've also found someone for our cake and I will be paying the deposit for that next week provided I can book that early.

We're using a designer on Etsy; paying them £50 to mock up the invitation, save the date, evening invitation and accommodation / directions card. Then we're going to print them at home. There are lots and lots of people on there that are doing similar things; it was probably the one thing we've struggled the most with making a decision on!

  • So far we've:

Booked and paid deposit for registrar
Booked and made first two payments for venue
Booked and paid deposit for photographer
Booked and paid deposit for band
Booked and paid deposit for Disney part of honeymoon
    Bought my dress
    Bought my shoes
    Bought invitations
    Decided on OH's suit

I've got a friend of OH's doing my hair and makeup and we're going to set up a trial for April and another friend is making our cake and we're meeting with her in the new year.

The only big things we still need to sort are:

    - Flowers
    - Bridesmaid dress
    - New York part of honeymoon
    - Deciding on food with the venue
    - Wedding night accommodation

I think we're pretty much on top of everything but then again we have been engaged for almost 4 years so we've had a bit of time to sort out what we like and don't like!
