Pigpen, those initials look like one of those IQ tests where you have to spot the pattern and predict the next in sequence. Will you ever get to 'Z' I wonder??
I've spent all morning in the house and it's glorious outside. BM done, 4xWM done and blown dry, every room is clean, beds changed, house de-catted. Breakfast muffins made,HUGE lasagne and 3 sorts of cold salad stuff made, wrung my purse empty and went shopping for beers and crisps. Then.. only then.. my week end visitors cancelled.
The Christening they were going on to tomorrow is called off as the family all has gastric bugs. I said they could come anyhow but they 'reminded' me they are coming up next weekend anyhow. What?! Maybe I forgot to put it in the diary but my Bro is so waffy he probably didn't tell me the dates.

Wow very serious then Becca, sponsored too blimey, shops keep offering to sponsor DP but he knows loads who've had hassle because of it so he's declined. Dp was into it until he was 15 then took it back up again almost a year ago, spending an absolute fortune in the process. My little DS who's now 6 is quite into it but not quite so good. Wait it I tell my partner, he'll be very jealous, furthest he gets is Yorkshire, Bury etc I think mainly due to ££. He'll no doubt know his name if I mention it as he tends to keep up with everything. Unfortunately our shed leaks so he's took over the rear hall in the house, must be 12 cars out there and he's on about getting another, then all the junk that goes with it, just had to switch some batteries off that finished charging as he's gone to work. Drives me mad with all the 'stuff'.
sexymouse ((big hugs)) hope you're better soon and tonight goes ok.
Oh Solway nothing worse than when you build yourself up and put so much effort in then it's cancelled. Sure the beers, lasagne etc will keep, shame with the salad as that probably won't
Well anyway, what have I done, erm, 3 more loads of washing, folded 6 loads now in piles ready to be put away but will wait until the rests dry. One more load & I'll have reached the bottomSorted through some of one more junk box, will finish that later. Done floors through downstairs. Dusted some things that needed it.
Left to do (inc the dailies bits left) for today
[STRIKE] Finish sorting through junk box I started
Portion up the stew into freezer pots & freeze
Clean SC, outside inc as it's had a spill eww
Make evening meal for boys and reheat stew for me

[STRIKE] Groom Megan
Clean 'George'
Sort rest of hopefully dry laundry into pilesand take upstairs
Put the laundry piles upstairs away
Tidy my room & boys room
Socks/undies sort! ARGH![/STRIKE] ok well we've got enough for the week sorted will do the rest later, howay I don't do miracles

Hi all,
New to this thread, but just been to a friends and now i am depressed! Not only does she have tons more money than me (own business) so her house is amazing, she works from home and manages to keep her house and herself looking absolutley stunning!
I have 2 DS's (8 and 4), i work 16 hours in a pub now, (thanks to Mum going off and deciding to not have my DS's anymore:mad: , meaning i had to leave full time job,.... resulting in aaround £16,000 pay drop! ) So we are now skint and the house needs decorating too, OH earns a pittance so we are really skint!
My partner works full time 9-5 and im usually at home now in the day as i work weekends and evenings.
Problem is my house is a bloody tip! I HATE housework and we live amongst clutter!
I just cannot get motivated and eventually lose my temper and ransack the house while in a foul mood, swear to keep on top of it and then end up in the same position a month later!
So without sounding too desperate,........... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please can someone give me some advice on how to change my ways?
I am off to work tonight and wont be back till late, and working 12-6 tomorrow but NEED to do something and try and sort out this mess we call home, i must admit i NEVER invite anyone to our house as i am embarrassed:o . So i MUST sort it and quick!
Any ideas how to help a desprate and unhappy woman???
Thanks in advance

Hiya
I know just how you feel. If you look at the first message on this thread it explains it all in more detail but what everyone told me when I started was to just take one step at a time. Lil_me gives us three levels so just start of doing level one for a week and then move on to the other levels when you feel ready. Have a read of the first post and then feel free to ask any questions. Good luck and welcome xxJanuary budget

evening all
just checking in to say hi. OH hre this weekend so not really getting any flying done. we went to tescos to pick up some stuff for dinner and i was too busy talking on the way back and drove into a parked car :eek:
my car's now got a big dent in. i stopped to leave a note on the car i hit and the guy came out. thanksfully he was nice about it, there was only a small scratch on his and he said not to worry about it as he works in a garage. i really really can't afford to pay out any more money.
i did go to bed in the end yesterday and so didn't get my sermon written so need to go and put some work in now before we go to the simpsons movie later
hope you all have a good rest of weekend. i've got a friend coming to stay next week - arrives monday lunchtime, so i am gonna try and do the whole list for the week on monday am. maybe!:AMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Rach, ooops, but that was very nice of him, many wouldn't even if they worked in a garage, enjoy the movie, kids are bugging me to go and see it
Feisty fairy welcome, like LJD1 says have a look at the first thread, a new post will be up tomorrow evening (ish) and the link to it on here if you want to join us.

Hello! :hello:
It's been a beautiful day, and i have had a frantic fly round to catch up on all the stuff i haven't done while reading Harry Potter, which i finished yesterday.
Basically, i just went up to make beds and took the hoover with me and did a bit more.
Achieved:
charlie's room:- bed stripped, mattress hoovered and bed remade
- windowsill had mould on, so that was cleaned off
- windows opened for a good airing
- floor hoovered, and skirting boards/door frame/mirror
- smoke alarm hoovered
- carpet hoovered
- carpet hoovered
- top of all door frames hoovered, and skirting
- bin emptied
- bed stripped, mattress hoovered, fresh bedding on
- full hoover, including pulling out furniture and doing under it and all the skirting boards
- hoovered dust off lightshade
- hoovered wood that curtain pole is screwed to (very technical me)
- tried to hoover top of wardrobe but couldn't actually reach (must get DH to do as it hasn't been done in all the time we lived here - 3 years  )
- 2 loads of DH's darks
- 1 load of bedding all line dried
big handful of weeds pulled out of borders/rockery
shopping
bought clip-it frame for Charlie's 1st painting, now just need to work out where to put it, ruck sack for Charlie for nursery, developed a disposable camera from my sister's wedding, some clothes for Charlie in the sales and a next stage teether, and got 2 free samples of the new nivea deoderant which are perfect handbag size, and a christening present for DH's boss's kid
so i think i must have nearly caught up if i clean the bathroom properly tomorrow as i did all of downstairs earlier in the week
Will definitely be chilling out tonight with a glass of mummy medicine and some chocolate raisins, and a DVD.
Also sold a DVD on amazon, so i think i have had a very good day
Rach sorry about the car. Easily done, and i am sure we could all own up about something equally silly.
welcome to feisty fairy - best tip would be to do a bin bag boogie 1st to get rid of some clutter, and then just do a bit each day in the given room, or if you are desperate for quick progress, do 15 mins in each room

Feisty_Fairy, Do not despair my dear, we have all been there!!
I used to hate it when people stopped by unexpectedly. There was never space to sit on the couch for the crap that was stored there. I can't count the number of times I vowed to stay on top of it after a foul mood frantic clean up.
Then I joined this thread, and things changed! I'm still not a model housekeeper as I too have million thing I'd much rather do than clean my house, but it's so much better than I used to be. If you follow the tasks given every day, and consider yourself "DONE" at the end of it, you feel GREAT! And after one week, the place looks so different already!
I still get days when it looks like a bomb exploded, but with 5 kids in the house that's no surprise.
Money worries are no fun! But you don't have to have an expensive house, and expensive new things to have the place looking nice and comfortable. When it's tidy and clean, you feel so much better already. On this site you can find loads of tips for money saving as well by the way!
Just jump in, do what you can from the daily list, and tell us all about it. It's wonderful to be able to tell people how much you've done!
After a few days of me joining this thread, my husband came home from work, looked about the place and said: "Did your computer crash?"

One week into my flying my 16 year old son came up to me and in a worried voice said: "mum, are you feeling alright?" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Now it's gotten to where I think it's a tip and I get frustrated, but this 'tip' is already much better then what my 'tidy' used to look like!
You'll find a whole bunch of wonderful supportive people here, who'll be happy to help and motivate you!

Rach - ooops about the car. At least you stopped to leave a note and he was ok about it.
This week i'm going to follow this thread to the letter. My house is going to be so tidy by the end of the week and i'm going to start the decorating too. DH is away five days a week and jobs are just stacking up so i'm going to do them.
We now have no carpet downstairs as our dog was rather poorly on the only remaining carpet - living room. She has colitis and i'm serious when I say it covered a third of the floor (sorry if anyone is eating their dinner!). We've put her straight on her medication so she should be ok in a day or two.
So, now we have no carpet. We've bought a nice laminate for the hall and kitchen and are saving for laminate in the living room and dining room.
Before any of you think we could have cleaned the carpet - it's got two iron marks from my mum doing us a 'favour' and doing the ironing when she baby sat once and when we pulled it up the underlay was mouldy from diabetic cat accidents. The floor boards aren't great but they're clean and they don't smell so i'm happy! Have a good evening xxJanuary budget

Rach, b*mmer about your car, hope it's not too costly to get it un-dented. Simpsons and a sermon? That's diversity!
Feistyfairy, welcome to the thread, plenty of tips given already. I know all about House Envy, it's evil but it does make me pull my finger out now and again!
LJD, I think its fair to say that carpets are no longer the way forward in your house! Hope the dogrel recovers, colitis isn't a nice thing to deal with.
I've spent the best part of this afternoon reading the paper (it was a big one) and stewing and brooding. Basically, I'd put something important (to me at least) off this weekend when I found out in the week folks wanted a bed for the weekend and arranged it for next weekend instead. Folks cancelled this afternoon, through no fault of their own, and need a bed for next weekend instead. Trying to decide where my priorities lie, if I'm being put upon or selfish if I say they'll have to stay else where. What a tangle I'm in.
Need to throw myself into a big project tomorrow that doesn't involve spending cash. Nothing left to declutter and the whole day to do it in. Suggestions appreciated, Flylady based of course
