Me too. Aussies put in on pavlovas.
The first time we visited Mrs Generali's I was warned about her rather unawesome food and so steeled myself. At breakfast I was offered the following:
- Rice bubbles (Rice Krispies) that were a few years old with soy milk on them
- Gluten-free bread that had obvious freezer burn
- An egg of an uncertain age
I wondered aloud if she had just a bit of fruit. She lives in N QLD and it is hot and humid so suppresses the appetite at the best of times.
"Nothing in the house I'm afraid", came the reply, "if you get the ladder from under the house you can help yourself to some mangos or just get a few passion fruit".
OMG. The were amazing. The mangos were right at the very, very end of the season. Passion fruit were spot on. We drove down to Brisbane and took a huge box of the fruit with us to keep us going. Nom, nom, nom.0 -

For quite a few years I was unaware how nice the apples in our garden were, in fact it was almost as if the apples were invisible (to me). But shortly after we got our new dog a couple of years ago, all of a sudden there were half eaten apples all over the lawn, and I realised that our previous dog had been eating all of the evidence. So after disposing of all the partially eaten fallen apples, I tried one from the tree, it was surprisingly good. Up until then I would have joked that we only ate proper apples (from a supermarket, rather than a tree).Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

I don't know how true this is but SIL has to limit the amount of windfall apples her dogs get as they get drunk on them?!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Your SIL's apples are obviously far superior to mine, mine are windfall apples too. Our Ozzie (he's a lab) also eats most of the blackberries, he eats these straight from the bush.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Ponies do. ( and butterflies etc). The issue is partly length of time in the digestive tract and fermentation. I cannot see this as a problem for my dogs. ( who eat fruit). Windfall apples already rotting, yes, probably a problem. That doesn't happen here.
Apple cores etc ( and plum stones) are not good for dogs for other reasons but......hey ho, some risks are harder to eliminate. Big dog was the worst for plums. We might even get more green gages this year.0 -

Blackberrying with dogs, ponies and a flock of birds all in tow feels quite high pressure. They pick their own, but the bowl or bucket ful is always more enticing, easy pickings always are.0 -
Doglet often gets my apple cores. I had no idea thats a problem? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
