Yep, fir got the job. Its a year contract and a cv enhancer, so worth the poverty, plus time together, it seems he can choose his days, so long as they are the same days through out.....any reason not to choose tues, we'd, thurs?

    T,W,Th sounds good to me.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Hi LIR/Spirit :kisses3:

    How's things?

It's all manic here. Things (that have been keeping me away) haven't died down/been resolved yet. If I get a mo, I might post elsewhere about it.

Likely to flit in/out for maybe a week, then be intermittent again for a couple of months I gues.

    How are we? :)

Well, look what the wind bought us. Welcome back.

If it is the sort of place where they don't usually have part timers and are not used to the rules, they may try and say you only get the bank holidays if you work on that day, so then you want a monday as a working day.

I went part time for a major employer in the UK, but was one of only a very few who had done so in the central organisation rather than in the field, I got no allowance for not working a Monday.

Surely they should know the rules... or at least that fir will/ will find out?!

He is covering a part timer. The only change is that he can choose to work different days if he prefers. We think it makes sense to do tues to thurs, as cheaper for travel to block book, and better for office presence not to miss halves/ chunks of week rather than 'a day' at a time. Tbh, getting complete holiday allowance seems almost churlish. Networking and looking for next move and using extra time well and budgeting going to me more pressing!!

I am trying to do my 'seasoning' fires in the new wood burners ....three small fires, just very short burns, a few logs, then leg to cool completely. The overpriced toaster is still hot from the three log fire done at three this afternoon. I thought I might get two done today, but no chance. I want to get it done so I can make something with it for fir on Thursday........I'll do it first thing in the morning, and hope it cools by tomorrow evening I guess.

The Boy gets a few grand. That's a lot of Lego/X-boxes etc.

On reflection though, I can't imagine that my beneficiaries would be pleased to see me go and that's on a night when Mrs Generali has the right hump.

I have to be very careful to make sure DW does not know how much better off she would be if I pegged it....

    Can't go wrong with 69

Does he need to work full days? Could he work the same hours spread over 4 days and commute daily instead?
    I think....

No reason to not pick those three days, but it does depend what you're trying to achieve and looking at holiday entitlement and the days that bank holidays fall on in the coming year.

I would have thought the question of transport would also be important. Are Monday morning and Friday evening worse times for fir to be travelling between lir & fir's house and London than other times of the week would be?
Everybody who is employed gets holiday pay, separate to their pay. Even a temp, hired for one 8 hour day, walks away with holiday pay for those 8 hours.

The only people who don't get it are self-employed contractors.

It's not like that for part-time teachers. I work whichever days are on my timetable and fall within term time. Nobody counts them. If term starts on a Tuesday and ends on a Wednesday, there's no adjustment for the people who work Tuesdays and Wednesdays compared with the people who work Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. But then we of all people aren't precious about a day or two of holiday. We have no choice or flexibility about our holidays, but we count them in weeks, and we come into work during them to get work done that didn't fit into the "working" days, so counting individual days of them isn't part of the mind set.
