Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I don't think Doozer has had the same brand twice.
I know he had a VW Beetle, a white BMW, a Seat Ibiza, a Peugeot 206, a Vauxhall Astra estate, a Nissan Navarra and now a MINI. He killed three of those by not servicing them and rolled one onto its roof on the A45. With hindsight, that Peugeot 206 was a superhero of a car - he had it for years and it didn't die.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Before I passed my test I often had to rely on colleagues to drive when we were going out to see clients together. One had an old Austin A30 which was fine as long as you placed your feet in one of the few spots where there was floor rather than hole.
The funniest one was going with a colleague to Durham. She had just had some jabs before going to India and so her left arm was too stiff to change gear. So she operated the foot pedal while I operated the gear lever. Bear in mind I was still a learner driver at this time. She'd go "Up" and we attempted to synchronise the change, then seconds later it was down again!
Anyone who knows Durham will know it is very hilly.
It was an interesting experience.0 -
Its so cooooooooold today. Really, why is it suddenly so cold? The dogs are shivering and I think I'm going to have to put fleece coats on them.
ATM they are cuddled up under a blanket.
