That British Leyland - £20 was your one fifth share of the company, not a car, wasn't it??

Actually they chucked in Trabant and 23% of Delorean too.

I still think we were ripped off . I could have bought 20 pints of warm lager from the student union for the same money.

You were definitely ripped off. Should have been at least 40% of DeLorean in that.

I should add that we had a car dealer in the family that would supply us with demo cars in the early days, so we very gratefully took what was on offer. As time progressed we bought our own. That particular avenue disappeared after the last hyundai.

OH (when we ran a second car)

    mazda (compnay car)
    Vauxhall (company car)
    BMW (bought off a company)
    BMW
    Merc

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I don't think Doozer has had the same brand twice.

I know he had a VW Beetle, a white BMW, a Seat Ibiza, a Peugeot 206, a Vauxhall Astra estate, a Nissan Navarra and now a MINI. He killed three of those by not servicing them and rolled one onto its roof on the A45. With hindsight, that Peugeot 206 was a superhero of a car - he had it for years and it didn't die.

Before I passed my test I often had to rely on colleagues to drive when we were going out to see clients together. One had an old Austin A30 which was fine as long as you placed your feet in one of the few spots where there was floor rather than hole.
The funniest one was going with a colleague to Durham. She had just had some jabs before going to India and so her left arm was too stiff to change gear. So she operated the foot pedal while I operated the gear lever. Bear in mind I was still a learner driver at this time. She'd go "Up" and we attempted to synchronise the change, then seconds later it was down again!
Anyone who knows Durham will know it is very hilly.
    It was an interesting experience.
