Last one I asked the neighbour if you just pull out the connector or what ... and he offered to do it, so I let him. He'd just done his a couple of days before. But, even so, he was really struggling to get the connector apart (and he's a fit/young man working in a strength-based industry).
There must be '000s of people having to live with these beeps as they're unable to get up there and deal with it. Daft design, designed by able people in their 30s.
I think that, in your position, I would:
a) Carry the ladder up to the top landing and lean it against the wall, ready for use.
b) Buy a four-pack of beer.
c) Ask the neighbour to do it.

I asked my self what a pre-school would notice, and immediately started thinking about lines and corners, then a few seconds later, loops.
It's just one of those coincidences. If I had taken half an hour to work it out, I would have kept jolly quiet about it!

I'm saying two too. Took me a while to work out though, mostly because of looking for something more complicated.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
