. I sometimes start 'yelling' that if one more jar enters the fridge without two leaving it there will be consequences. But its an empty threat. We ( fir and I ) keep jars going for years, and like variety. RP gets through astounding amounts of marmalade and jam and catsup for a diabetic and produces a lot of jars/bottles. I cannot tell you how many jams / toppings we have in the fridge currently , but it is probably in excess of three per person. I am certain some of them predate our moving here
:oI use a bit of redcurrant jelly when I cook and like horseradish and haven't made my own for years ( though we did plant some late last year so maybe in the future!!!!!)
Coffee. We have different coffees. Decaff, RP's ( which we don't like) and ours ( which RP doesn't like, which ever brand I buy). I've given up trying to find one we agree on, its easier to buy three. We get through coffee even when I'm not drinking it, and use real coffee too. I'm not sure where the coffee goes. We have a disgusting number of teas. I did a filter last year, and put my foot down, limiting my self to three and asked the others to do the same and said we could keep one low caffien, like redbush or white or something.....( I gave them the choice ) as number ten.
I believe we now have something like two dozen tea varieties againmost of them abandoned because they aren't nice. I don't mind so much the herbals or fruits, I'll eventually drink them. Its the varieties of builders tea blends that are icky, heavy and unpleasant. I've almost entirely stopped drinking builders tea.
In fact, sorting through those would be a good job for the week after next, I hope I remember that.
Are you copying us?
I also have jars of anchovies, herrings in dill and artichokes in the fridge . We are well off for teas and coffees too. DD likes good tea and has a stash of dilmah tea she bought in Aus.We bought teapigs this weekend, lemon ang ginger and a peppermint also decaff ground coffee.
The fridge in the garage holds beers, fruit juice and soft drinks.
We have a recycling bin and a black general wast bin, each collected on alternate wednesdays, there is green bag for garden waste but we compost or Oh bags up and takes to the tip along with the cleaning out rubbish from our 6 bunnies. We collect glass jars and bottles and take to the recycling bank, every couple of weeks. Our black bin is usually about 3/4 full.0 -

You missed a bit - he's kinda easy on the eye in an Aragorn (Lord of the Rings films) kind of a way0 -

I'll pay closer attention and get back to you
I think it's the generic 'ruggedness' rather than anything specific.
Edit: see what you mean. Oh well - not much competition on a Sunday night around here!0 -

Agree also that support is the key. Parenting without a partner but with a supportive and helpful family living not too far away is a completely different prospect from parenting all by yourself with no help from anybody.
Been thinking more about this. Am going to be politically incorrect here and say don't go ahead unless you've got the support in place, and your support includes at least one bloke who's going to be there for the long haul - perhaps your dad?? Children can thrive in all kinds of families as well as the ideal two-married-parents-who-love-each-other set up, but IMO they do best with at least one adult of each sex who is a permanent fixture in their lives. Grandparents, aunts/uncles, godparents, friends of the family - any of these will do, but they need to see them regularly, and be around for more than just a few years - it's the older child and teenager stages where this is important, whereas when they're little it doesn't matter so much. Since you're female, your kid(s) will need a male one of these if at all possible.
My kids don't have that. My brothers, although wonderful, are just too far away to see often enough, and my dad, although also wonderful, is not exactly local, and pushing 90 in a year or two, so somewhat limited in the input and influence he can provide. Their godfathers are also too distant, and several of them have other reasons that limit their availability to be involved much with my kids. I see the lack of male parental figure leaving something missing in their lives, and it troubles me.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Lir, under our new recycling regime I can put rinsed tetrapaks in my recycling too. It seems to be being rolled out, but quite slowly. Considering how much they are used, it's a great step forward. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Don't worry, Lydia. Unlikely to ever happen. As far as I know a I've got a few years for Mr. Right to rock up at my door on his stallion to sweep me off my feet etc etc. I think I've got at least 5 years before I need to seriously consider my options. Until then, I've got plenty to keep me occupied.0

We currently have one for recycling and one for everything else. Recycling goes once a fortnight and everything else goes weekly.
Previously we had a green bin as well which went on the off fortnight to the recycling.0 -

I don't know why I am awake in the middle of the night, but it occurs to me that all single ladies should have a tether ring installed near the front door, so Mr. Right can tie up his stallion whilst he is doing his sweeping. The last thing you want is for the stallion to run off mid-sweep, especially if there's a lot of traffic around.
And maybe you need some hay, to keep the stallion happy whilst you entertain Mr Right? So, add hay to the shopping list, as well as CAKE. Mr Right may well like cake, probably fruit cake. And Earl Grey tea, of course. And cucumber sandwiches. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
