Yes, that's me on the right, before I had gender reassignment surgery(and lost the yellow hat). More of a whether man than a weatherman.

An alternative explanation is that I just put the bit I was quoting in italics. I'll leave you to decide.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

We were lucky with the sunshine this morning, and a colleague had found some old lighting gels / window film in her garage which was thick enough to look directly at the sun through.

Everyone's immediate reaction was "Oh wow" - from a whole load of people who usually don't deign to show emotion. It was surprising how bright it remained, even though we were I think 90% coverage. It did get a bit cooler though.

I remember 1999, standing in the middle of Bradford as it went eerily dim and cold. It really did seem to get quieter. More impressive than today's but I'm still pleased I experienced today's.

I stood on Southwick Bridge during the 1999 one and we got a pretty good view. Some cloud but it was pretty awesome. I had some solar glasses for a quid from Tesco.

Yesterday was lovely. Mrs Generali organised so we went here for fish 'n' chips for lunch:

Then on to a display home village to have a poke around a bunch of show homes which was quite fun. Then on to this place for dinner:

It's a 'cook your own steak' place. We bought 2 400g beef ribs and I cooked them up on the barbie in the pub. As they have BOGOF on a Friday we got 2 x steaks for £13 plus another £6 for all the salad and veggies we could manage. As I cooked the steaks they were done to perfection (for us) considering the meat was very cold. TBH next time we go we'll get there early and let the steaks warm up a bit before cooking.

New posh people on Gogglebox. They live in a thatched big place.

    Giles and Mary. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CAkiny9WgAAzezg.jpg

From Wiltshire ".... couple obsessed with art and design"

I've never understood the point of gogglebox. One day they will film people watching the people watching the people watching the programme or just stick a mirror where there is now a TV.

We did see a crescent shaped sun through the light clouds. I guess that is something to tell my grandchildren whilst they wait patiently for 2090.

Do you have any? Rather worryingly the DM had an article yesterday that said the average age to become a grandmother was 49.

I was in the middle east for the '99 one, remember viewing it in nice warm heat on the patio through a pinhole viewer, but it was only partial eclipse there I think.

Saw this mornings one from Edinburgh Airport, stood outside and viewed it through the light clouds, perfect picture of it and no need for glasses...

I quite like gogglebox (or at least I did before the talking heads became minor slebs). Makes me feel like I'm watching TV with other people :o

My parents have already missed that by 10 years  Hopefully they won't miss it altogether, though that's entirely possible...
