In the past I've linked to a transcript of a detailed diary of residents of one tiny village, written by its rector in 1843 when he was handing over to a new fella: http://www.speculumgregis.co.uk/ - some amusing reading.

Well, today I found another - a diary by a sexton of a small place in Cornwall that noted down details of burials. http://west-penwith.org.uk/justsx1.htm
There are some sad bits - and some humorous bits - and some gruesome bits and some "fact of life" bits. Quite an interesting read. It covers 9 years, across 10 web pages. In date order.

If there's a postbox, you can lock the postman out, too. He's probably going to think you're a film star. ;)

Well, I could, but that would be a bit mean. It's good for them to know who you are, so they can spot if it's not you lurking around one day.

There's an odd diary entry in 1896, February 8th and 9th. No name, then it says about the "state of the body" and the sexton moaned about the peasant behaviour of the mourners - and mentioned the police being present. Wonder if it were a gypsy burial.

I thought gypsy funerals were cremations, body in caravan, on the site. At last it was in 'call the midwife'.

Good thinking. Could have just been a local, feral family :)

If all sextons had all kept such records, it'd certainly make people's genealogy a lot easier as he was also describing the relationships between the people asking for the burial, others in the plot if a vault and the deceased.

There seems to be another/similar, in 1899, probably the same people.
Feb 23rd was at the Churchyard at 7-30 the body reached the Churchyard at 7-45 Mr Mugford at 7-50 whilst Miss Buckingham Mr Humphries and the inspector of Police in a cart from Penzance as the clock struck 8 and the funeral was got thro’ soon afterwards. About 150 women present and about 30 men who for a wonder were fairly orderly. William Merrifield Church Clerk came to repeat the responses in a state of dirt and general disreputableness in the matter of clothes, generally in a state of dry paste from his bill sticking business, boots not laced in front, a disgrace to his position, so I told him to take a back seat which he did.

Naked and comfort with nudity is different to relationships and/or sex. And sex can be different from relationships. I am also very open, and indeed positive about kids knowing about sex in its practical elements ( and that its a loving thing, and that its not something to rush into). I'm very pro nudity. :)

I'm not pro kiddy experimentation, or making decisions about expressing nudity in a sexualised way in a irreversible and public domain without the maturity to think about how it might impact on you in the future.

I think that's the main thing about teens sending pics of themselves - it's so sexualised. Though, in many ways I guess we shouldn't be so surprised - so much stuff is sexualised nowadays... the obvious stuff like music videos, but also things like the pouting, posing selfies/ photos that any even vaguely famous female seems to produce. And increasingly males too.
Today is not shaping up very well at all. :(

Still, got the back 'lawn' cut.

I'm slightly overexcited at the thought of tomorrow - the weather forecast is good and I've got visitors on Sunday so I'm planning a full day of gardening, and probably the first lawn-mowing of the year. Might plant some seeds too :j

I got laughed at today for saying I liked Call the Midwife. Though in fairness, I'd said also just mentioned I watch Countryfile. Sunday nights are pure rock and roll here

Not sure if you're up for trying something whacky, but you could try a cake in your SC :)

I think someone else is bringing cake :D

I've bought lots of savoury nibbles (cold meats, olives, cheeses, nuts; I have more of a savoury tooth anyway). All of which are in date. My fridge almost doesn't look like it's mine!

Edit: otherwise I'd definitely up for wacky cake-making. When I started my job, there was a baking rota. Someone bailed out in my second week and I was talked into baking... thought I'd do something a bit different, so I made a carrot cake (safe choice) and a courgette cake (raised a lot of eyebrows). Was a talking point, which was what I was after!
