I agree with you on all that, I just think if society didn't make such a big thing about nudity then perhaps sending naked photos would be less of an illicit thrill and thus less a required rebellious action....
Oh, ok, yes, I agree. Clothes are very much more tantalising, and sexual, potentially, than no clothes. Its not what you wear or don't wear, its how you wear, or don't wear it
Humour aside, I feel you are right. Why is a naked body ok in art, but not in a family photo? Or a friends night in? Why is it beautiful in a toddler but not in an old person? We'll all be both ( hopefully). Perhaps acceptance of both would make life happier as well as nudity less sexualised.0 -
I'm actually pretty thankful we have clothes, not sure I would want to burden the world with the sight of my stretch marks and extra wobbly bits, no-one would ever eat, they would feel far too sick to after looking at my naked body!
Josh has now been offered a place at all the universities he applied to...and he still doesn't know what he wants to do.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Maybe he already has one or two ruled out already based on visits? Easy to decline them.
With which place and course did he feel most at home?
I'm not in your situation, but I would think that consideration of how the disability people work at each place would be very important. Some may already have impressed/not impressed. Will he get any priority in booking the most suitable accommodation? That could make a difference to the decision.
If he's still undecided then maybe time for another visit, if possible.
I'm sure you have been through this before but each child is different.
DD (older child) only had the choice of 2 universities which did her course; she applied for 4 courses (2 variants at each university) and got 4 offers. Decided quite easily which was her first choice, based on the available locations for her year abroad. Got the grades, got in and the rest is history.
DS had 5 choices; was rejected from no. 1 and then, after re-visits, found it relatively easy to choose firm and insurance.
Didn't get the grades, went into clearing and got offers from there. It wasn't the best 3 years, but he graduated and now has a good job, which is where he wanted to be.
Experience was totally different.
DD needed far less help (sign here, buy train ticket/book accommodation for visits, sign here to pay money), whereas DS needed much more handholding.0 -

Agree.
It's an Anglo Saxon thing, worrying about nudity. I spoke to a water polo player and she said she loved playing against AS sides as if the game got hard they could always rip a top to expose a breast. French players would simply carry on but AS ones wouldn't.
I've noticed that French young women still sunbathe but tend not to do so topless. The French are getting more AS or at least my generation are. I think the 20 somethings are forging something for themselves which takes lots of cultural references and turns them into something amazing. I was very interested to see how Paris has changed.0 -

I don't think its necessarily Anglo Saxon tbh. I know some very, very prudish Italians, and French women even. And when you look at non Anglo Saxon origin people in the 'colonies'often the same applies, you get conservative clothes on, and clothes off people of all sorts. I was surprised when I started boarding that some people slept with panties on. I had been told that that was unhealthy and those areas should 'breathe' so loose pjs, or nighty was always what I was put in ( and sometimes nothing) My night clothes seemed very old fashioned compared to the sorts kids here had!
Naturism as an organised thing is generally more popular with older people I believe, which IMO is a shame, though understand why teens find it awkward and inappropriate.
Edit: I've just had an image of one of what one of our oldest friends in West Indies if she'd seen hr daughters of granddaughters in the nude and what her reaction would have been. She used to tut at my bikini bottomed only self all the time as a kid. And tell her family that they better not get any ideas.0 -

It's a beautiful spring day, here. So, relax and enjoy it?
Just spent the last couple of hours reading through youngest's latest politics essay, which I can barely understand at all. Academics seem able to take an interesting subject, add jargon to make it inaccessible, and make it exceptionally dull.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Had an interesting 20 minutes or so on the doorstep earlier with a market research bod asking lots of questions about Government, EU, online privacy, general privacy (eg being seen on cameras in shops on roads etc), how right or left wing I was, how i'd be voting. Etc. It was fun. Have a 10% chance of being phoned by his employers to check it was all done according to their protocol.
Anyway, today you get 2 photos from my bed. Because it's so clear I wanted to show the distant mountains in more close up IYSWIM.Today's view from bed by ukmaggie45, on Flickr

I'm not sure why both pics have come out so dark looking, it's been a nice afternoon and early evening. One day I'll learn how to use my camera better I hope!0 -

I figure I am not trying to block burglars, but, once the postman's been, it'd be nice to be able to lock the gate giving access to the front door at any time to stop random door knockers disturbing me about things I've no interest in. There'd be a bell and a postbox, so if the gate were locked any callers would have to ring the bell and when I emerged from the door they'd not be able to step forward with a leaflet and accost me with daft questions.
If there's a postbox, you can lock the postman out, too. He's probably going to think you're a film star.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
