Bet Costa/ Starbucks is always full too.

I was really disappointed when it turned out we're getting a load of chain restaurants. We don't need a Bella Italia when there are a huge number of non-chain Italian restaurants. It's nice trying new places (especially if I'm not paying...).
    :o
Then I found out one of them is due to be a Wagamama and I softened to the idea somewhat :o

There is a costa. I'm not sure there is a Starbucks

Definitely no waggamama :(. I think there is Frankie and Benny, one of the Italian / pizza chains. Maybe a nan dos? Don't know what else:o

Re Orange Wednesdays. I heard a piece on the radio about this the other day. It is rumoured that another firm is going to pick them up, but it looks as though it will be a Compare the Market/Money Supermarket type company.

Oh, forgot to mention that the biggest worsening deficiency, is vit d. Michaels, this occurred to me as GP was talking about it because I remember you mentioning it with you kids and in relation to son because there is a possibility of relation ship with asthma and allergies.

Because of diet issues and gastro problems just taking a supplement isn't going to work on a daily basis, but might be the best of a bad job. :) GP wants to talk to all the others and speak to me in a fortnight. Good oh, it seems he's being really proactive now!

Also, neuro is going to see me on fir's day off. Meh. I do think I should go because her opinion is contextualised for me. I just know its gonna be a horrid day, but we all have to have them occasionally, horrid doesn't mean not worth while.

Is vit D deficiency linked to calcium deficiency? Or is it the other way round?

Vitamin D allows you to absorb the calcium in your diet.

I'm due 'the grand tour ' again soon, but because of the decision on action scheduling might change a bit . :) neuro forgot me for a long time ( and the consultant phys sort someone else's opinion for scan and test results and will be seeking another neuro when we're ready to roll, so....' so my guess is maybe an opinion is sort my funding people or something? No idea how this sort of thing works tbh.

    Question for Lydia,

How are you getting on with your Hive heating system. I have had an offer in the post from British Gas to install it for £159, is it worth it?

I will chip in here, our programmer was faulty and it was a complete pita to program it so rather than buy a programmer myself and fit (which is very easy i may add) i checked out various options. We also wanted the thermostat changed and this was hard wired into our existing system so needed someone to do that.

Actually the first engineer was an electrician and he said he couldnt fit Hive on the day because of our thermostat and he wasnt 100% sure he could do it correctly so a second engineer came a week later to do it.

The program unit fits over a standard backplate most programmers use, and a wireless thermostat can be installed anywhere you like. A small Hive modem plugs into your broadband so that it can communicate with all the devices and connect to your online Hive account.

You can install the Hive app on most mobile devices and tablets or login online to control your heating and hot water. I find the app very easy to use and the scheduler is really easy to change and copy over to different days. It could do with more than 4 timeslots per day and i think thats being upgraded to 6 slots over the coming months. Watch this to explain better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4ABkLwSCN4 than i can or this shorter video is good too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXEvodHV-L0.

There is also Geolocation that can auto turn on and off heating depending on your location, i havent really used this because i work from home so cant comment on how well it works. I have to say though that being able to turn heating/hot water on or off is very useful when out, even being able to turn on hot water for a shower from bed is a nice luxury on a cold morning.
When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.

My GP tells me that the majority of people in the UK are short of vitamin D, at least at this time of year. He reckons that everybody should take a supplement during the winter months.

My brother-in-law swears by it, and he says that he used to get very depressed in the winter until he started taking vitamin D. I will just throw that in, because I am not sure there is any scientific backing at all for his view. However, he may well be short of vitamin D, as he is a member of the ultra-Orthodox community and he walks around very covered up with clothes.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
