Isn't it important to buy with a mortgage if you want to offset the interest against rental income? Not sure I could lay my hands on 365k plus costs without a mortgage.

You can claim the interest on money borrowed up to the value of the property when first let. It doesn't need to be taken out immediately and it doesn't need to be secured on the property in question (or indeed secured at all).

Even in a normal purchase situation, you could have the deposit by increasing your home mortgage and raise the rest on the BTL. SO the extra interest on your home mortgage would be counted as well as the BTL.

It is the purpose that counts not where it is secured.

Don't know if anyone else is watching the Brits, but Kanye West... what's the point if they keep muting?

Missed it, was at the cinema.

Yes, it was Fifty Shades. I'm not entirely surprised it didn't win any Oscars!

Can't quite believe that the end really is in sight. I'll have to find other excuses for not yet putting the Christmas tree into its box (at least the tinsel and lights are now packed away :o ) ... :A

Well done Yorkie! Nearly there :)

I only took my (rooted) tree outside last weekend :o Seemed cruel to make him stand out in the cold :o

Interview/audition didn't exactly go to plan, they couldn't play any of the stuff he had prepared as they didn't have the equipment! What use asking them to bring things in a certain format is if they only have a bare room with no actual electrical items...

Not to matter, they took note of his Youtube channel and got him to freehand some drum stuff and we will hear back in the next two weeks. It was ok there but not ok enough to surpass his first two choices.

Performance tonight went very well, complete sell out (which surprised everyone), not too many mistakes from the performers and a very enjoyable show, they get to do it all again on Friday and they are all looking forward to it. Josh did drumming for the first half (which was actually the lion share of the drumming) and then controlled the mics and sound for the second half.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    I love being part time.

I went for a 1km swim after dropping the Generalissimos at school (free coz it's where the kids have swimming lessons). Then went home for a big bowl of beef stew, watch a bit of cricket and then off to collect the Generalissimos and take them to a soccer party in the park. 38 kids and 6 adults playing, the adults cheating mercilessly of course.

Now I've taken them to the RSL club for fish and chips and a bit more cricket watching.

I've really landed on my feet with this job. It's fun and interesting and pays ok considering the hours plus I can be promoted within it.

I earn about the average Sydney household income for a 3 day week :)

Don't tell Professor Graham from the I.I.E.I. (Ilfracombe Institute of Economic Idiocy)......any job that isn't 40 hours a week is a blatant attempt to manipulate the official employment figures, according to his latest report.
