Well if they are made bankrupt, you would want your debt registered or it would be written off in bankruptcy. Cost a few hundred pounds to make someone bankrupt, so they have to think it worth it.

If someone else is chasing their debt louder than you, they may prioritse that debt to your disadvantage.

It is weird isn't it - PN and Sue also seems to survive on about 1000 calories a day whereas I have 2.5-3k, do half as much exercise as either of them and manage not too put on too much weight. Do you think some people just fail to metabolise half the claories they eat at all?

700 calories a day for me to lose weight, I would put weight on at 1000 calories a day.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Who has to think its worth it? The court or the individual/ organisation trying to get the money?

    Thanks silvercar, really helpful.

Will delete: I think I'll be updated if anything like that happens, so could choose whether to get involved or not. Don't know whether I would... amount of money isn't insignificant (could be a new boiler), on the other hand I'm much happier blocking all of that stuff out of my thoughts.

Often, it's the debtor who files for bankruptcy. It gets his creditors off his back.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

When I was dance training every day, I still had to watch what I ate. Others would do less training than me but could fill their faces with chocolate and stay slim, whilst I had to restrict my intake of the naughty things or would put on weight.

The only time I have been able to eat what I have wanted, was when I was pregnant. I got accused all the time by the GP of dieting whilst pregnant as I kept losing weight when in fact, I was like a human dustbin eating everything in sight. Every single time I came out of hospital after delivery weighing less than when I had become pregnant, substantially less.

Blooming annoying to be honest and as time has gone on and mobility reduced, the calories have had to be reduced accordingly, even before that but after the dance training, my calorie intake had to be what most would consider diet levels.

Oops, sorry, wasn't concentrating. Done. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I believe it's quite unusual for the creditor to bankrupt an individual as it's throwing good money after bad: you're unlikely to get the cost of the bankruptcy petition back from someone who already can't pay you!

AIUI, HMRC is most likely to petition for bankruptcy.

My sister lost weight while pregnant, but has no normal problems with weight/ eating. :) had to watch weight while pregnant because of skin grafts mainly, but, never really has any problem with weight. Grazes throughout day often. Similarly, I didn't eat 'what I should have done' or anything like, when I was very fit and active, but I did drink a fair few calories :o.

The pill was a very bad move for me. It tipped hormones out of control, wish I'd not done that. :o. In fact fir and I have been talking about birth control recently. While its not really been an issue we both feel now that that ship has sailed. :( we accept it and if if things were to change it might no longer be the blessing it would have been five years ago. I cannot have hormone birth control in any form, and frankly don't much fancy sterilisation now with other ops coming up.....how much time do I want to spend recovering? Sibling had the coil, not sure if I can have that. I might have to go and talk to some one.

I've always thought it would be a good idea if operations could be co-ordinated. So while one doctor was removing say your gall bladder another could attack your varicose veins. I've known plenty of people who've had one operation and delayed a second til they recover from the first.
