We are a family that tells each other we love each other and our dd wil have heard her dad and I tell each other "I love you" many times. We are also very tactile and kiss, hold and embrace a lot.
I had a very tactile relationship with my mum, which in turn I now have with my dd .
I think the V card between Nikkster and her mum is endearing, and loving. not at all sad, as that is not the context.
My parents were like that too, my dad a bit more overtly and my mum a bit more discreetly but definitely both of them, and I am with my kids, although one of my big regrets in life is that I haven't managed to give them the experience I had of growing up with two parents who obviously loved each other loads.
Which reminds me, I should have sent one to my dad this year, now my mum is not around to do it. Not an actual V card - in their relationship that was something he sent (always anonymously) to her, rather than something she sent to him - but some kind of expression of my appreciation for the great relationship they had with each other. Will have to make it an ecard now. Doesn't matter - he'll appreciate it whatever the format.
He sent me one the first Feb after she died - with a verse he'd made up himself, in rhyming couplets as he used to do every year for her, about how he couldn't send her one any more so was sending it to me instead. It still gives me a bit of a lump in the throat to remember what he put. I often send him one on mothers' day, for similar reasons.
PS Half term!!! Woohoo!!!
(Apologies to those of you in normal jobs who don't get half term, but I really need this one. Just need to make sure I don't relax so much that I forget to mark my coursework in time for when we go back.)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Speaking of living the dream... I just spent 5 hours at the hospital. Babies both went mental - totally hyperactive and out of the norm and it just didn't stop so we phoned the midwives and they told us to go to hospital. Doctor had a look and everything fine. Just wish they could have done it at a more sociable hour! The babies still haven't stopped going nuts - I don't think we will get much sleep tonight!0

Oh chewy. I hope you are asleep by now. At least it's the weekend and you can both have a well deserved lie in.
Not long to go now... then you can discover the true meaning of sleep deprivation...Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I've always found the british ones a bit tasteless. Portuguese ones are in an entirely different league.

Those can be wonderful! Worth getting fat for.
We have a saying in our family, if something is not terribly nice: not worth the calories. That does not apply to pastel de nata, at least not to good ones.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

You can get pastel de nata in lots of places in London. It's just a rather rich egg custard tart.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

That was his mother's side - she left home when he was young, so he doesn't know much about her family.
He thought he was Cody's great-grandson, but his father doesn't think the ages match up... so he'll find out. He said he's found out that Cody was married to his G-grandmother, but not a bloodline. Cody later became the first man to fly an aircraft in Britain.
I remember watching that one; it was really interesting
though I was a little disappointed for him that he wasn't actually Cody''s GGrandson. 0
