There might be some pre-prep that I might tenously consider 'making my own'. I've made my own stock before, usually I CBA though

Edit: or am not cooking anything which would generate stock
There are some simple ways to do it. I'll often put a bendy carrot, a stick of celery and a bay leaf in a milk pan of simmering water to use as a base for gravy while the meat is cooking.0 -

He strained the saucepan into a jug and that was the gravy done, then tipped the peas/carrots into a dish to serve.
I was looking through the obits of where I used to live last week and spotted his dad'd just died, aged 93. I'd assumed he'd have gone 10+ years ago.
Perhaps there's something in vegetables.0 -
It's looking bad for getting to the cricket. There's a severe weather warning sitting between us and Melbourne, looks like there's a pretty bad storm coming in and we've still got 300km to drive to get there (and 300km back again). At least Trev can get his money back if it's rained off although it looks like the storms will blow over by 2pm when the match starts.
We're going to spend the day round Albury and Woronga which straddle the NSW/VIC border. This is a lovely area: it's called the Riverina and a lot of Australia's milk comes from here. We're going to go to the farmers market in Woronga this morning if Mrs Generali gets her act together.0 -
Oh noes Gen. Sorry to hear that.

My dinner tonight was to deliberately eat some protein that stood a chance of.staying down . So I had a small fillet steak, peas and sweet corn with a red wine and peppercorn sauce. Unusually for us Oh added salt as I had a call from the gp this evening to say that this mornings blood tests showed low sodium and advising me to eat more salt and restrict fluids to a litre per day until i am retested next week.
Do not feel I can reduce fluids as I am thirsty due to high blood sugars as I am off one of my drugs as the jaundice cause remains undiagnosed.
no carbs tonight as this morning I was throwing up and it has put me off bread & potatoes today
In better news my sil has made me an egg custard tart.0 -
My mum always has (well, when she wasn't shouting at us).
Only in recent years has my dad started.
We're a family that does. Doesn't mean that your family don't/ didn't, Just that thy didn't say it.
Edit: I've never heard my parents say it to each other. I very much doubt I ever will.
We are a family that tells each other we love each other and our dd wil have heard her dad and I tell each other "I love you" many times. We are also very tactile and kiss, hold and embrace a lot.
I had a very tactile relationship with my mum, which in turn I now have with my dd .
I think the V card between Nikkster and her mum is endearing, and loving. not at all sad, as that is not the context.0 -

Whatever you're saying, I have some la-la-la fingers in my ears
Definitely not offended!
I expect that my mum would be receiving her only card, from me, whatever my circumstances were - because she wouldn't get one otherwise.
And I would be getting a card from her, regardless of what my circumstances were, but especially because the postman is unlikely to be challenged at my letterbox tomorrow

And I hope that I would be so lucky as to have a similar relationship with any offspring that I might happen to produce.
But I doubt that my parents ever did what you've also mentioned - I'd be shocked if they did anything even vaguely similar now.... they know how to live with each other but there are no hearts and flowers (never have been, never will be). Perhaps that's part of the reason I'm considering that if in a 'few years', should I be 'uncommitted' I would look to bring up a child on my own. I'd rather be in a normal relationship - but if/ when I'm not... I have some choices to make.0 -
Not many nutrients in there PN. Fat, refined carbohydrates (assume you used white flour) plus salt.
A few veggies wouldn't be a bad idea IMHO. Eat what you like, obviously, but if you did a few peas and a chopped carrot with that'd have nutritional content. As it is, dinner is about the same as crisps only with more saturated fat.
Balanced diet, mixing some healthy meals with some that are not too healthy.vivatifosi wrote: »Oh noes Gen. Sorry to hear that.
