No, you can count this post as an official "not wanted" post. Sounds like you have a use for it, understand it, and are easier to distribute it to0 -
I had a odd but nice happening yesterday before collecting DH. Had forgotten I could be attractive.
after a week feeling decidedly gross and very low yesterday I did something I almost never do and dried my hair properly with a hairdryer. I'm now convinced there is magic in that thing and while I knew I was having a good hair day I had no idea it would result in such morale boosting experience.
I should have grabbed the passport photos I need yesterday too I guess, I was obviously having a good day, lol.0 -
Too late PN, we already have the 5 section bi-fold doors (with blinds) on the extension. However the now internal old rear wall is mostly down but a pillar remains which would be nice to have gone (to create more of a wow factor:o) but there are various issues with another existing steel and probably needing to 'underpin' the foundations where the steel will be supported.
That sounds very expensive just to improve your wow rating. I thought you wanted to be under less pressure to work long hours. Wouldn't you prefer to keep the pillar and spend a little less time at your job, since you seem to hate it?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Well we have a room that is almost 'wow' and need to spend about 1500 having it decorated so if we could spend another say 5k and have it super-wow (with the much greater increase in house value as a result) that would seem to me to make sense.
Also completely agree with you re the work.life trade off issue too thoughI think....0 -
LIR, I sent you an email about those cupboard doors.
If you can find it? & reply I would like to ask you something else, please. I'm crap at PMsEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Stick that on a mortgage and end up paying, say, £10k.
To pay that £10k you have to earn, say, £16k.
So now it's cost you £16k
It is interesting how different we all are. Michaels really enjoys saving a few quid (or even pennies) here and there by putting in lot of time and effort hunting down the best deals - he's described it in the past as his hobby, but he also talks about wanting to save money in these ways so as not to have to work so much. He thinks that £380 is unreasonably expensive for a Y6 residential for his DD. However, he finds £1500 a perfectly normal amount to spend on redecorating a single room that was last done up only a few years ago, and considers an extra £5k on his house's wow factor an investment for the future because it may improve the value of the house if that pillar isn't there.
My priorities are different, and yours, PN, are different again. I don't, if I'm perfectly honest, really "get" why either of you would want to live the way you live rather than the way I live. But wouldn't it be boring if we were all the same?

Cauliflower. I noticed a few expressed an interest in cauliflower and just saw something on the telly that you might be able to use this summer.
It's called a cauliflower salad - you can ignore the rest because what you shove on it is up to you. http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/cauliflower_salad_with_90691
It amounts to: Blend one cauliflower's florets to crumbs in a food processor, then transfer to a large bowl. Heat a frying pan over a medium heat. When hot, add 250ml maple syrup, 6 tbsp white wine vinegar and 1 heaped teaspoon curry powder, stir well, and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until heated through. Add the maple syrup mixture to the cauliflower.
He then added other stuff: pistachios, spring onions, herbs - and seasoned.
But, the core mix could be used in 100 ways.
It's not a cheap recipe though. With one cauli at £1 and maple syrup often £3 or more .... although I just had a quick check and most supermarkets seem to have Clark's at half price (£1.50) right now.
For me - £3-5 just on a bit of cauliflower that's really a side dish .... won't be happening0 -
In the spending/ not spending debate. We have a virtually unused shed that is 15ft x 50 ft and a summer house that is about 20 ft x 50 ft. Both are in need of repair - roof/ damp/ walls creosoted.
I thought of getting rid of the shed, rather than spend money on something unused. It is at the far end of the garden. Any ideas on uses for the space? I assume it has a concrete base.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I don't like cauliflower......
Woke up to a blanket of snow, the sun came out and it now looks boring out there although the sky is now clouding over again. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
