Sofas... what do people think about white leather? No cream, white.
    https://www.harveysfurniture.co.uk/products/living-room/collections/embankment/embankment-3-seater-sofa.aspx

Close enough to budget for me to consider it .... bit longer than I'd like (it'd only fit on 2 walls, not 3). But I think it'd be longer lasting than a fabric one, which was this: http://www.dfs.co.uk/smudge/3-seater-sofa-smudge-101060025p--1 in a blue (Sky).

I DO hate decisions..... sales both end on Tuesday, so I either have one, or sit and wait .. and wait ... for the next sale/s. Then the next... er, next.....

I also wonder if introducing white into the room will then make the walls look shabby and I'd feel some bizarre urge to get some paintbrushes out to paint them more white than new white.

While new, I do prefer the look of the fabric one and its two seats.
White one has 3 seats, which I don't really like in sofas, but how'd it wear?

Sales at dfs are the norm, they probably have to advertise when they don't have a sale.

Personally I would worry that a white leather sofa would turn cream in the sunlight. I have no rational reason to say that, other than paint turns, but it would worry me.

I have seen some leather sofas that have aged very badly in just a few years. The fabric one may well last longer.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I think I once met someone who bought a full price sofa at DFS although I think she was showing off.

One thing to think about with leather sofas is that your cushions just slip around on them and won't sit neatly in the corners. :o White wouldn't be practical for us with having grandsons... We have a brown IKEA one we got reduced in their reduced section, and 2 John Lewis chairs that swivel and we got in sale I think 3 Januaries ago. They're brown too. The cushions stay put better on the chairs than the sofa for some reason. :) They could all do with a bit of clean and polish, but we'll get round to it when we finish clearing Old Home. Maybe! ;)

I think the sale was announced on the same day that sitting down was invented. I'm old enough to remember when everybody just had to stand al the time.:D

I've got my doubts about a white leather sofa anyway but as a parent and dog-owner, nobody would be surprised by that.:o

Fabric one suggests 5 weeks delivery, leather one 8 weeks, if that makes a difference?
I like the Sky colour; it's the one I chose straight away.

Have you looked at Argos? They seem to have quite a lot of sofas in the price range.

That's interesting. I went through a phase of getting that, but within a couple of years I stopped getting it which might be a slightly cheery thing for michaels to hear.:)
Think prickly heat is different as it is caused by getting hot rather than direct sunlight? It is not a big problem unless I go away for winter sun. Today's fun is raining and I have a fever, hopefully not pneumonia.....
    I think....

We had a white leather sofa. What a mistake that was, being parents and dog parents.

If they pick up dirt, it gets into the grain so it lools grubby all the time.l after being washed. You need to be careful with new dark jeans etc as the colour will rub off.

Leather sofas can be cold. You find yourself moving and hitting a cold spot. I used to cover where I was sitting with a blanket before I sat down. :o

I also think white means the whole room needs to be white. It makes me think of immaculate people who furnish in texture rather than colour.

Oh, and them what quality? You can buy leather hangbags that cost more than that sofa. Leather is an expensive item, as are sofas. You want a cheap sofa. I would worry that both leather ans sofa are poor quality to bring it in at budget.

    PORK AND LENTIL CASSEROLE

The original recipe used belly pork but now I use the lean ready-cubed pork from the supermarket to cut down on the fat.

cube meat and brown off in a little oil, put in crock
chop a large carrot or two and a big onion and cook both in what remains in the pan till onion a bit soft, chuck this in with the meat.

Pour over enough stock (I use a pork one but veggie one will do) to cover, season and add any dried herbs you like, (its supposed to have a couple of bay leaves) then get your packet of dried red lentils and pour in a good couple of handfuls, give it a stir. Check the slow cooker after an hour or so and you might want to add more lentils. Leave to cook for a good few hours, I usually leave it for 8 but don't leave it for 14! :(

My slow cooker has an 'auto' setting, which means it starts off high then automatically goes down to low.

Sorry the recipe is a bit vague, I lost it ages ago and just use the 'bung it in' method now.

This is lovely with mashed spuds to soak up the 'lentil gravy'

Thank you Joanthebone, what a lovely easy recipe! :T Will definitely try it. I have some pork shoulder steaks in the freezer which should be just the job :)
