TBH I would consider it if I wouldn't be flying alone both ways. I can buy in to the idea that the flight is part of the trip if there is someone to share it with. Travelling on my own makes me nervous and would spoil the trip for me. Have done NY for a long weekend and that was fun.

Can you travel 'up front'? I could enjoy that by myself very happily sleeping through most of it.

I LOVE flying though though, and have no nerves. I don't like getting stuck in seats by people who smell/are noisy /inconsiderate or where its cramped with people you don't love for a long time. But if I had roomier seats I reckon I'd just sleep through it all now. :o.

We've already realised that if we go that kind of trip I'll have to go on an expensive flight where I can put my feet up and head down because that is hard enough down here:D

Tbh,the idea Vegas itself leaves me a bit cold, but it would be worth doing for a weekend.

Indeed. There is a way to stop these harrowing stories but oh no theres a rule written 200 years ago on a piece of paper. Like that makes sense.

I can't sleep on a plane, even flat out. So, the idea of a long weekend in Vegas just makes me shudder. I'm not afraid of flying, but it's noisy, I don't like the vibration, or being cooped up in a small space with lots of other people, unable to move properly. I just find it extremely unpleasant.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Or she could have kept her gun better secured? People aren't routinely being shot accidentally by their kids, just as many of the terrible accidents that happen here are rare occurrences.

I know I have told this story before here, but there is a reaction that the time in Venice The boss and I were walking behind some Brits who suddenly started realising they hadn't seen any kids yet ( it was a school day in the morning) and that really all that open water shouldn't be allowed ( er.....its Venice) and how many kids drowned there a year.

Outside towns in uk a surprising number of people have guns of some sort. The type and laws of how they are kept is VERY very different to the states indeed, I agree. And also, terrible accidents do happen.

We sadly now see the opposite here where 18 year olds don't know how to use a train and are scared to try new things because they have experienced so few risks and responsibilities through youth in many households. No tree climbing, no chores, few sports or organised activities.

I'm not saying give kids guns. I am saying leave US to have this debate its self, its not as if its not having it. I don't say it lightly, I've spent time in not nice parts of southern us ( I remember a couple of drive by shootings in Florida, on the street and one at a gas station for example) But I've felt no less safe than in parts of London.

I feel we have some splinters in out own eye to remove too personally.

I've never tried flat out, but bet I could. In the old days I just would have gone the weekend without sleeping:D. Maybe slept sitting up on flight back. But probably too excited by on flight movies. :rotfl:

Very sad, but don't we know to keep sharp knives away from little hands? The idea of having a gun accessible to a 2 year old is asking for trouble.

Indeed. It's exactly why I'd be against a written constitution for the UK. You end up being governed (partly, anyway) by people and values from another time.

Done that once, OH was on a Bus class ticket paid for by his work and I flew on Avios/ airmiles. "Sadly" the only reward seat available was first. OH thought this was a win-win, he had a peaceful flight and I couldn't complain being I was in the better seat. OH likes to watch films and sleep and me talking to him is not too welcome.
I can't sleep on a plane, even flat out.

I can if my body thinks it is night time and I can lie down. A glass or two of wine helps. Last trip from NY I slept 6 hours of a 7 hour flight. However, if it is a day flight I can't sleep at all, get irritable and get a headache..

Last night kiwi shuffled off to sleep with RP. We just went to call him back but RP said it was ok, kiwi could stay. I said I'd take a dog bed in but RP said no, kiwi liked the proper bed.

Fir and I giggled and fir said his snoring was noisy wasn't it. RP said that snoring was not noticeable over the cat who had joined too, and slept on the pillow. Cat also snores a little but covered up RP's ears with its body.

    And I hope it is.

I've decided I want 2015 to be the year I stop just existing and start living again :)

Edit: I appreciate the irony that I will see in this new year sat at home on my own :) But I'm sure I'll have a nice enough evening.

    Me too :)
