I found Joseph Joseph in our new Debenhams, that puts it in the not-that-posh category.
I think it is very well designed, but the multi-colours are a bit gimmicky, the mono colour stuff is often green (dislike) and it all lends itself to stuff you are meant to keep out on display gathering dust.
If I was looking for a new scales, I do like this design for their compactness.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. My oven gets a blitz ever so often and looks presentable most of the time. Unless you stuck your head in it and looked up, the top is unreachable because the grill element is in the way and could do with a good clean.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Most muck seems to come from people doing roasts, due to the oil.
I notice my oven instructions also say not to use a liner on the bottom.... I've heard about this and it was on my list of things to discover/read up about. Some ovens have heating elements at the bottom and if you try to put foil down it welds to the base.
I'd like to fully research what I've got and then to fully research oven liners that'd catch any spills.
Oven cleaning is not just about actual spills. It's partly that hot things spit droplets of fat/juices, and partly that microscopic amounts of cooking ingredients get wafted about in the air and very gradually get everywhere - in the kitchen as a whole and in the oven in particular. This is why inaccessible places in kitchens (such as on top of the high level cupboards) will be not only dusty but greasy/grimy if you climb up there to clean them when they haven't been done for ages. Similarly, the oven will still eventually need cleaning regardless of the care and attention with which specific spills are wiped up.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I worry that it'd break if I cleaned it, or nasty cleaning stuff (got that Oven something or other that's quite 'dangerous' on your skin) would stick to it and "burn off" next time the element was on ... and that there'd be gunk behind the element that was unreachable. It's a daft design really.
This is exactly why I prefer to leave cleaning the top of the oven to the professional over cleaning person every once in a while. I can cope with a bit of carbonised food being on there, but strong chemicals in such close proximity to food doesn't feel like a good idea to me. The oven cleaning person told me that the materials they use are much less chemically nasty than the oven cleaners sold for household use - because they take the thing nearly to bits to clean it, they can get it clean with gentler stuff.
Note to self - haven't had oven cleaning person for ages. Must get him back in. And the piano tuner.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I am not one of those people who craze extra stimulus so could have done without having to take DD1 to A&E this evening after she fainted at guides, of course they found nothing wrong with her but because she had fallen and hit her hea d(well her chin) and had thrown up when we rang 111 they insisted on hospital. Quickest hospital is pretty much 20 miles from here too

Hope she is feeling better now. Does she faint often?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I've got my man coming tomorrow, to do some work on the bathroom, and I'm going to get him to clean the oven when he's here.
I'll find out what he uses, but it does a good job

Well done for turning out for DD. I don't think it was a waste of time, any more than buying house insurance is a waste of money. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
