    I'm not a loon.

I sometimes do my John Travolta routine in the kitchen squeaking "Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive!!" , but that doesn't mean I'm a loon, does it? :o

Only if you put the white suit on to do it.

Thanks, I'd forgotten previously this week. I'll miss the end of this one too because FIR got the early train :j:j:j:j:j. So excited to have this holiday together.

Hope you are enjoying the time together. :D

You obviously have these phobias, as do we all, and I am wondering whether you can work round them to some extent, rather than confronting them head on?

PN has just been explaining that she's been working round them all her life and is now fed up with that and wanting to change.
It looks like my "reward" might have been them converting my first 500 points into that £2.50 voucher.... I think that's how it works. Taken two years to get to that point!

Sounds probable. That's usually how these things work. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

If it helps PN for me to admit it, I am also dead scared of heights. On the one hand, that's perfectly sane, but it's also quite debilitating. I absolutely hate roller coasters, for example. Having the kids around makes my fear of heights far worse, as I worry about them falling.

I got a lot worse when I had the boys, perfectly normal things I would do before children which did not worry me at all suddenly became these horrible danger laden activities. I would see danger everywhere....out for a simple walk along the river bank and I would be imagining the boys falling over the side and into the water...when they were at least 20 foot away from the river bank and had reins on/were in a buggy. Going on fairground rides, I would imagine the restraints failing and son 1, 2 or 3, falling through the air.

Or walking down stairs which are open and them falling through, or tripping and tumbling all the way down.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Doesn't sound like much of a point scheme with Shell - Morrison's seem to hand me a fiver every few weeks on their new reward card even though I only shop their end of aisle half price deals.

I think cars break more when you do lots of short journeys which is more likely in small cars?

Re 'irrational' risk behaviours I was very disappointed when they published some research that said 'normal' people underestimate levels of risk whereas depressed folk get it about right. And yes I am also a loon when it comes to irrational anxieties.

Oh and LIR I am really upset if you feel unable to post on the NP thread for fear of my response and I apologise for this. I will try and think about things before posting to avoid causing offence, and if I have caused upset it is entirely unintended :(
    I think....

    Hi Sue,
Are you keeping warm? Have the extra heaters arrived? Luckily it turned milder...

Got a Shell Driver's card also, but nominated a doggy charity for the rewards instead of collecting the vouchers. That way, I can think that while I'm pumping all those gases into the atmosphere, somewhere there's a mutt benefiting from it. :)

Yes, luckily it has warmed up a little, so no frost on the car in the morning and not so grumpy me either.

The extra heaters have arrived but as said in one of my previous posts, I am being a loon about their use :D

The thing is, with all these reward schemes, you're restricted by [a] how much you spend location.

I use the petrol station as it's the closest to my house -and- happens to have the cheapest fuel. To go anywhere else would involve driving a distance, so not worth it.

I also don't use much fuel as I only use the car/go out when it's absolutely necessary and I can't avoid it any longer (to keep fuel costs cheapest).

So, with little fuel purchased and using the cheapest fuel station anyway, £2.50 in two years is as good as it gets.

e.g. my nearest Morrisons is 6 miles away and has no petrol station whatsoever.

What 5% cash back card do you use? I thought the only one that did that was Amex for the first three months?
