Whitsundays are a way North of here. It's a bit like discussing the weather in Lisbon and applying it to Oslo!
It's 32C and sunny up there but then it's almost always 32C and sunny in the Whitsundays. They were actually 'discovered' by white people (being discovered by black people doesn't count) either the day or the day after Whitsunday but Cap'n Cook didn't know about time differences and the date line apparently.
This is where Mrs Generali and I went when we went there:
It really is lovely. Just as amazing as it looks. The sea is almost always pretty calm because you're sheltered by the reef. It's wonderful.0 -
Thanks for the info and piccie, I have not googled any of her destinations as I do not want to pry or stalk her so I appreciate this snippet.
today I am mostly whinging. I did not take co-drydamol last night only Ibuprofen and had a rotten nights sleep.
shoulder impingemnt was making its presence felt.
toothache was there (a bit not a lot but I am whinging)
big toe on left foot has an infection. A result of toes being dropped and left toes tryingto clutch the ground tightly. need to see a poditrist today. next problem is to get an appt and find someone who can take me at that time.
my left hand fingers are full of lactic acid, feel like twigs and as if they could snap at any time. it is very painful. I massage it out then something creates tone in the hand muscles and the lactic acid floods back in.
my left knee is twinging and leg shaking if I lead with it. coming downstairs was very shaky this morning.
Physio in this morning , I need to tell her all this without whining. I am rehearsing the catalogue of misery on you poor NP.0 -
Its not whining, and yes you need to tell her. She cannot build the right programme with out full information. Its not whining, its enabling her performance at her job.
I used to get quite similar, happens far, far les to me now( and mines a chronic condition, so its partly element of current mobility and partly element of technique and partly luck I think) , I get 'switched on' muscles, but Now I' m more mobile I can move around, they stay firm but I can get some oxygen in there a bit in movement so not as solid as they feel, I don't get so many stitches/cramps, apart from feet and lower legs.
You are doing very well. Its important to note where you are having problems.
Re podiatrists. Plenty of mobile ones... Probably most independent solution?0 -
Not whinging at all, without information then you can't get the right amount of help that you need.
I remember reading about the Whitsundays in a travel magazine once and earmarking it as a potential visiting place. It looks gorgeous.0 -
Well, the reviews on Argos mostly say it is rubbish. Even the one good review says that they had to reinforce it with mdf. One reviewer got so carried away that he rhymed:
'Metal frame and slat creak and squeak and are very weak. '
Cheers. I am not in the habit of reading reviews
I won't get it then.0 -

You aren't whining. And I'm sure the Physio will understand. And not think you're whining.
I am in a foul mood today. One of those days where I think it's dangerous to be in the office. If I get through today without having a massive tantrum, I'll be very surprised.0 -

Dad was always pleased/proud that their stairs were wider than usual and had a good tread depth, it was a very good staircase for getting up/down as an invalid, or when the ambulance crews were trying to get dad out on the couple of times we had to call them.
I did it on my bottom till we took the carpet up
Quite often I do one leg leading. I am increasingly finding that though I am nervous to trust my body normal descent is best ATM, :j:j:j
Today I have a dodgy hip and lightly swollen joints. The stairs weren't for running down but i am pleased when I cope well with them. Just a few years ago it was harder.
Spirit, when we didn't know what was going on and I needed exercise but wasn't able to go out side for miles alone I used to march up and down stairs in a tall building in London. Till I couldn't any more!
You are doing well. I'm proud of you.0 -

"Their arms filled with the flowers' stems as they made their way through the moat, the volunteers then began to dismantle the poppies, removing the ceramic blooms from the metal rods before placing them into cardboard boxes."
Somebody asked about that on the Tower facebook page. "The press are saying the stem doesn't come with the poppy. But you said on here they would. Have you changed your mind? "
We saw them doing that on Sunday. They remove the ceramic blooms and put them in partitioned cardboard boxes. Then they put the stems together on a wheel barrow. That batch then is taken away. So somewhere behind the scenes the ceramic blooms are individually bubble wrapped and a stem and set of washers boxed up individually. It does mean my stem may have been hosting a different bloom.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The Whitsundays are also right by the Great Barrier Reef. The reef is probably the only thing I've seen that's more amazing.0
