expect a cat shaped parcel to be delivered this afternoon. she is called meg. no point us both being kept awake by cats who put their own comfort first.
Ooh, I'd like a meg. I agree, no point in you being kept awake
Mine are usually good ( or we are used to it) when fir is home mauve insists on being in the middle usually, but she doesn't mind being squashed so it works. Last night was just awful though.
I think it was the pillow arrangement.
I've just had a little nap with pinky and she was as good as gold. Hopefully tonight will be a more normal night.0 -

I'm not going to switch off the mains supply to the whole house, just the switch on the consumer unit that controls power to the heating system.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Oh I'd not trust a switch. Even if I had a little man doing the work I think I'd need to be standing outside of the building while he did that.... waiting for the "BANG!"

How do you compare the risk of that with the risk of ordinary, everyday activities, such as smoking, for example? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

ASH reckons that there are roughly 100,000 smoking related deaths in the UK every year.
GOV.uk shows 350 deaths from fire every year. So, just on the face of it, smoking is 300 times as dangerous.
However, it is worse than that. The smoking deaths are concentrated in the 10 million smokers in the population, whereas the fire deaths are spread throughout the entire population.
So, supposing cigarette smoking is roughly 1000 times as dangerous as fire, it would be a good idea to take 1000 times the precautions against smoking that you do against fire.

It's not about risk though. I do what I do as the result of irrational fears and phobias. These mostly feature fires, irreparable damage, floods, leaks, explosions....
I don't think I'll spontaneously combust in the garden while smoking - if I did think that, I'd have never smoked.0 -

Be gentle with her. She did post about something we're not meant to mention.
And everybody's perception of risk is quite a long way from entirely rational, with speshul people further from it than most.

I've been bursting not to post about how proud I am just for trying even. :kisses3:0 -
I fear I may have overstepped the line from trying to understand to bullying. I'm sorry, PN.
I'm afraid that I find your specialness quite fascinating, partly because you reflect so many of my own character traits, just a bit more concentrated. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
