I did see something that was promoted for caravans, like a heat exchange unit, but obviously small/portable. I'll google for it. Worth knowing it exists even if it's unsuitable.

Edit, couldn't find it. Found this though, so thought I'd drop it in. No idea of prices and, of course, this could be a problem for [a] aesthetic reasons listed buildings. http://www.solarpoweredairheaters.com/videos.php

Sue, people come to see you, not the house. .

I agree with this. I want to make people welcome and be hospitable and that matters more than worn furniture.

no major clean either. if someone is coming we all pitch in for a "10 minute tidy" . bathroom swished, hall & downstairs hoovered to pick up worst of dog hair and leaves. dishwasher stacked, kitchen bin emptied.

today is my first day alone, I have one or two friends in most days now. usual hospitality is off. I will ask people to bring lunch if they want it or a cake . I cannot do what I normally do and friends who visit always say, can I bring/do anything and I answer honestly.hence letting niece clean.

today DD will be home mid afternoon as she rides Thurs pm so works flexibly. OH will be home after lunch as he is still virally. so not really a whole day alone.

I fell again yesterday. banged my cheekbone and twisted my back but got up OK.

I guessed that. That's why I feel so strongly about wanting to help you somehow.

Second para - don't underestimate that. That's a lot of rooms that are tidy enough for someone to get around a clean. Looking forward to an update on that suitcase. Good luck with your list.

Thank you. I employ the cleaner at least as much for the deadline she provides for tidying every Tuesday as for the actual cleaning. :)

Deal with suitcase in living room
Only done a few items so far. It took me longer than expected to get together all the things I needed to deliver to work - had to go up in the loft in the end. But I did make sure I did 3 items from the suitcase before we left. I think most of the stuff in there is DD's so I should be able to shove it in a box and put it in her room quite quickly this afternoon.
[STRIKE]Take DS to dentist(and deliver some things I need to take into work, because we'll park there)
Buy present for DD to take to birthday party tomorrow[/STRIKE]
Toys and games were on 3 for 2 in the shop where DS and I went, so we got one for DD to take to the party and two for DD for Christmas that I've now hidden away.
    Make appointments with therapists
Mrs Furry's been. There's been no nibbling going on, so I've been furry free for two weeks at least. The end.

    Good for you spirit,

    Argh.

Today I will remember all my pills.

Last night fell asleep before the bed time ones. I remembered them but I was asleep. They were all around the bed this morning because I'd fallen asleep with them in my hand.

Never seen it, except maybe in a shop. I was googling for the prices of those things and the H/H link came up. I thought I'd toss it into the post as some form of "validation" that it wasn't "peasant tat"

Fatigue and lack of motivation are my biggest problems too, even now when my motivation is higher than it has been for years.

I'm fine when I can do things in my own time, not so fine when people are pressuring for things to be done..all my motivation goes.

I'm still sensitive over the house, I still want to hide away, still thinks it looks a mess but at the same time, am immensely proud of what I have achieved since May. We no longer have to dodge piles of things in the front room and the floor is totally clear of things (apart from the essentials, sofa, telly etc) but now I focus on the little things, like the CDs need reordering and go back to feeling eugh again.

We can go up and down the stairs without having to slide around the piles of things sitting on them...instead I look at my tatty carpet and feel eugh again.

    So on and so forth.

I'll never be a minimilist, I like my pictures and bits and bobs too much but on the other hand, I am not sure my head will get out of this disorganised person mindset, I will never think my house is as good as anyone elses no matter how clean and clear I get it and will always think someone is judging it whenever they come in and wanting to run for the hills as it is so horrible.

Most of my brain is very sad to read this because you are my friend and you are not happy. :(
But there's a small corner of me that's singing with joy because I am not the only one who is like what I'm like. :o

I'm sure the NP will be just as happy to encourage and affirm your progress as mine, if you let us. :)
Question: leave utility unheated or bung in some underfloor? Don't expect it would be heated very often at all, the dryer makes it quite warm in there, maybe electric underfloor is worth considering, very small floor space, very small room.....

My utility was unheated and very very cold. I had a small radiator put in there when I had the alterations done to the heating, and it is slightly warmer, but the floor is still very cold, especially when I go in there in bare feet looking for socks! I have put a large rug down on the floor which has helped a lot, but it's been down a while and now I'm going to have to wash it. It's supposed to be washable but I'm not sure how that's going to work out.

The other day we bought one of those edwardian corner cabinets with the top bit being a display cabinet with 3 wooden shelves and a light in the top.
We thought it would be a good idea to have those wooden shelves replaced by glass ones so the light can shine all over the 3 shelves on her crystal bits and it does indeed look much better now.
But then she wanted to keep the wooden shelves 'just in case we might need them one day'. :undecided

That is the sort of thing I would do. :o

That's t be expected. Your brain forgets that you can't rush about like you've done for the last 50 years and you suddenly break into a trot, or turn, or something, that your body decides isn't something it's prepared to do on a whim.

Must go and remind DD to have the ones for her ear infection. It's now stopped hurting, which makes it much harder for her to remember to take them.

All this talk of tidying, I popped upstairs to my "airing cupboard". It's never had a tank in it, it's over the stairs and airing cupboard sized, starting at about 2' up.

When I moved in and Nikkster was arriving, I randomly tossed things in there. It's also where the Xmas stuff lives. There are towels, bed linen and "random storage bags and backpacks" in there too. And a few other bits and bobs.

So, I went up to take a look and give it its first tidy. A first tidy is where you intend to sort it out and make it look better, but you come away with ideas of how better to do it next time. Or how it'd be better if it were slightly different....

So I've now put all the storage bags and rucksacks etc on the top shelf; middle shelf contains towels (rolled those all up into sausages, they're easier to store and see what you've got) and bed linens (sheets, quilts, pillow cases). That leaves the bottom completely empty except for the Xmas tree (boxed) and a box where I'd put all the decorations/lights.

I think, ultimately, all the "bags etc" need to go into the right sized box to keep them together - and the Xmas stuff can then join it on the top shelf.

Bonus Find: In the airing cupboard I found an empty box .... it was the original box for the inflatable air bed... and, naturally, inside was the big plastic plug that keeps the air in the airbed. So I'd put the missing plug in a "safe place", I knew I'd not lost it and that it'd turn up! So I can now blow up the airbed if I so choose.

Earlier I also did a Heath Robinson faux pas - when I decided to open a side window, forgetting that the closed window holds in place the velcro strips, that hold the net curtain over the french doors .... so that whacked me on the head :) Put it back up now.
