MrsMP Thank you, that sounds very easy!
Pigpen I've made that ripple pattern for a little cardigan, and a scarf, knits up very quickly, hadn't thought of a blanket. Like the sound of the leaf one too. Is that made in squares? I think I've seen it on pushchairs in town

yes the leafy one is done in squares..

 Hi everyone - we're back. Lovely to return to a clean and tidy house!

    So today's list includes
    - :coffee:
    - 2x WM (and probably TD to get it all done and out of the way - the weather is damp and grey)
    - HHI
    - finish Minutes of a meeting held the day before we went away
    - write shopping list
    - do shopping
    - make trifle for tonight's Harvest Supper
    - deliver DDiL1's birthday presents
    - possibly entertain DGDs at our house for a couple of hours as DS1 would appreciate a bit of peace and quiet: he has a load of school work to do this weekend, as they are more than likely to get an OFSTED visit next week :(

DH also wants the car to go and get even more bits for his railway  but hopefully we can combine that with the gift delivery.

I am still waiting for my bulb order
I bought a few more plants from varous NT places while we were away (all on sale or special offer ;) ) so will need to get out in the garden for a few hours this coming week. Maybe I can actually get some knitting done soon too.

Hope you got on OK at the horsepiddle, LW.
Hope all the colds and snot are on their way out.
Valli, it looks like HB has sorted your menu. It sounds delish.

Yesterday's laundry put away and shower had.

Drying my hair, then washing up, recycling out and a list for Mr L.

Serena enjoy the show, I'm inspired to knit again, needs to be very simple for me and on circle needles.

Ooh Ionafan, you've reminded me that I also need to get the washing up to date today while its sunny, also that my bulb order hasn't arrived either.

You may remember flyladies that I didn't do a September challenge due to starting my new job. Well, the new job has been hectic with lots of travelling and staying away from home, so I've had to get into a whole new routine with regards flying and everything really. But the good news is that I'm really enjoying the job and when having my first monthly review yesterday, its been decided that Friday's will be my 'free' day. So no scheduled calls, no travelling or staying away on that day. It will be like a catch up date for the paid stuff, or I can take it as leave to have long weekends to catch up on the flying and other real life stuff.

So I now feel that I will regain some control again.

Hope I haven't bored you all too much!

Really pleased the job is working out, Jazee x

Phew, I've just sat down. For a quiet morning at home, I've barely stopped. Laundry was out out and brought in again, but we did manage to have lunch out in the sun before the rain arrived. And I've cleaned / vacced the car out and took the littlies for a wander with their scooters.

Started a tidy in the garage so will finish that after I've put my feet up for a while. The kiddies are watching a DVD and snaffling popcorn so it's rather peaceful here.

Gah. The sun is out again. Can't make its mind up...

Might try a tidy in the conservatory later too - been meaning to do it all week...

    Dailies done.
    Lentil and bacon soup made.

I'm usually out and about today but decided just have a day in the house.
Got some tv to catch up on.

Need to look about for a computer for DD. Might hang on though and see what deals appear later in the month.
  • Hi all

Glad the new job is going well Jazee. Just pottering today, been so busy just lately I am trying to have a bit of a rest, which I dont find easy!

Have given the big oven and the halogen oven a good scrub and put a load of washing in. Another load to go out now.

Oh and have been shopping for birthday cards and pressies online. I have got 6 birthdays between now and Christmas and I usually leave it until the last minute then cant find anything!

And bra's - its so funny, just proves we can talk about anything on here!! I am a fasten at the front and twirl it round person myself. Not that I have much to put in a bra anyway.

Valli, here's a linky for Nigella's hummus which is cheapo to make per batch (huge) once you've got the jar of tahini - ignore the lamb and pine nuts bit. I bung 300g of dried chickpeas in a slow cooker on high with an onion, a bayleaf and three cloves of unpeeled garlic for about 4/5 hours and don't bother with tins. They go from dried to soft as butter in that time. (I don't put the yoghurt in at the end, either, so it's vegan.)

Served with crudit!s, and the joy of that recipe is the pile of hummus is so vastly huge it'll do all your lunches for a week as well. Make it 24 hours (or more) in advance and it'll thicken up in the fridge.

Pudding, make up a batch of crumble mix in advance and bung it in the fridge or freezer. Whatever fruit is whoopsied when you whizz around your local supermarket is your crumbled pudding. The crumble mix cooks from frozen when you sprinkle it over the chopped up fruit - with a slosh of whatever vino happens to be to hand at the time to loosen up the fruit and stop it going brown if necessary. Serve with yoghurt - hot pudding, cold yoghurt - utterly gorgeous.

Main course - you've got it covered, I think. Chilli in the slow cooker. Fab.

Bras. The more comfortable they are, the more I know they need replacing. I've never done the fiddling and twiddling around the back thing - they get hooked up where I can see them, twirled and then the straps hauled up. The last and final bit that gets overlooked when I'm in a hurry - settle the puppies individually in their nests. Lift and relax - the result on cleavage is miraculous.

    .
Appreciate this - not least because I HAVE a jar of tahini which I bought intending to make hummus and I never got round to it. PLUS I have been given LOADS of bramley apples - I can premake the fruit layer; freeze it and likewise the crumble.:T

Thanks also Lynne espeically re the cook in advance bit...:T

Why I have invited them for Friday when I know I will be worn out I don't know - well I do know tbh. it's because one of my friends is free and she sometimes works at night.

Defrosted bacon at the last minute in the microwave for OH's Saturday morning 'breakfast in bed' treat, put the towels on to wash and forgot to switch the machine on, zoomed over to the chalet to retrieve the keys, switch off the water and fridge, library book swap, lid1, morribunds, filled the car up, back to the chalet to collect the stuff I'd forgotten when emptying the fridge, got stuck in a traffic, pet$ at h0m3 visited for dog fud Mrs Dog will eat without wasting too much, got stuck in another traffic jam and then shouted at by someone who clearly doesn't know that when a driver indicates it means they're intending to turn. His problem, not mine. Actually, there was some pretty dire driving all over the place today. Obviously not everyone remembered to take their medication this morning.

    Five hours that took!

The chalet departure was the person who quibbled over the price of one extra night a couple of years ago - when she rang yesterday to tell me what time they intended to leave, she told me she was surprised at how little I'd put it up!
    Better is good enough.
