Pigpen Well done on the bed shuffling and new purchases! I paid a rare visit to Dunelm Mill couple of weeks ago, and replaced all the flat cushions, and two new covers. Love it.

MrsMP I am missing gardening, what with rain and backache. Can I ask you what pattern you use for baby blankets please? Am on hunt for one.

Very happy with fairly tidy livingroom, DS1 has dutifully cleared lots away.

Off to Knitting and Stitching Show tomorrow with DD, and friend, meeting my sister and niece there. Really looking forward to it, although have to confess I still have yarn and kits from last Spring show.

i use the corner to corner pattern
    cast on two stitches
    at beginning of every row
knit 1, knit into front and back of 2nd stitch to make another stitch, knit to end of row
every row is knit so basically you end up knitting a triangle once you have used half your wool start decreasing
knit 1 knit two together knit to end on every row.
you always end up with a perfect square,

I am doing a single sized chunky one in dark purple for Moomin in the leafy pattern I have done lots of.

    HELP

I have arranged dinner for myself and three friends (so far) at mine next Friday. Two are veggie. I will have been at work all day and I need a menu.

So far my addled brain is thinking veggie chilli (not least because I can fling it in the SC and leave it to cook)

    any other suggestions?

    Dessert? Starter?

(I would do guacamole but I personally don't like it but hey ho...) I would prefer a 'casual' type meal to a formal one, IYSWIM

LW I have NEVER managed to put on a bra 'properly' - they have always been front fastened and rotated. In the event of 'excitement' it is necessary for the other party to be involved in removal of said lingerie. Or out the room. HTH ;)

    Hi everyone

Mamaninie - think we all have weeks like that. Just start again as soon as - who's checking anyway :rotfl:

LW - hope things went well for your poor paws and something sorted :)

lynnejk The bill was £94 from April to September. Live on my own though.
That doesn't seem too bad. We pay monthly to spread the winter bills ;) but are all electric and with storage heaters so have to use supplementary heating in the day when it's cold. Sometimes I dream of having a proper coal fire again :)

I haven't heard anything from the jobs I applied for so EEEK I have just completed an online job application complete with tests. I was ok apart from the countdown clock was freaking me out.

Good luck with the job hunt and hope you get something soon. Have you thought of trying some mystery shopping ?? There is a good thread on here about it. Also have a look at the 'Income Family' button at very top of page - some good ideas there ;)

I would go for stuff I can make in advance and even freeze and then leave out to defrost on Friday morning.

Hm French Onion soup - served with Garlic bread slices (Morrys do good frozen ones)

Hm Vegetable curry with chutney, side salad and nan bread (any supermarket)

Cheesecake or similar (good quality frozen) with some fresh berries and thick yoghurt or cream

    Hope you enjoy !!

On the Bra front - have to put on forwards, leaning forwards

Hope you all have a sizzling Saturday

MrsMP Thank you, that sounds very easy!
Pigpen I've made that ripple pattern for a little cardigan, and a scarf, knits up very quickly, hadn't thought of a blanket. Like the sound of the leaf one too. Is that made in squares? I think I've seen it on pushchairs in town.

I'll be looking out for yarn and patterns today I think!

Everyone out today - DS1 has Open Uni first lecture and seminar. Despite moaning about having to drive to Surrey for 10, he's quite excited. :D We are leaving for Knitting and Stitchng Show at 10. Dithering over what to wear, as London forecast just cloudy, but tipping it down with rain here. Always get too hot in shows, and don't want to carry raincoat/jacket around all day.

Hope everyone has a good day!

    thanks lynnejk xx

have just made the second of the 2 birthday cakes - was only planning on doing one - but I've done a choc brownie type cake and it came out about 2 cm tall :rotfl: so 2 it is. I have a highly specified decoration to create (pictures have been drawn) involving a rainbow, pot of gold, clouds etc - a trip to a local retro shop and I now have a rainbow ribbon sweet :D plus 5 bags of pick n mix, a ton of tat for party bags and £20 decluttered in Wilcos for lucky dip prizes

going to whizz the hoover through - got the smalls working on clearing the floor:D then out to the shops. :)

    xx

Valli, here's a linky for Nigella's hummus which is cheapo to make per batch (huge) once you've got the jar of tahini - ignore the lamb and pine nuts bit. I bung 300g of dried chickpeas in a slow cooker on high with an onion, a bayleaf and three cloves of unpeeled garlic for about 4/5 hours and don't bother with tins. They go from dried to soft as butter in that time. (I don't put the yoghurt in at the end, either, so it's vegan.)

    http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/hummus-with-seared-lamb-and-toasted-pine-nuts-3334

Served with crudit!s, and the joy of that recipe is the pile of hummus is so vastly huge it'll do all your lunches for a week as well. Make it 24 hours (or more) in advance and it'll thicken up in the fridge.

Pudding, make up a batch of crumble mix in advance and bung it in the fridge or freezer. Whatever fruit is whoopsied when you whizz around your local supermarket is your crumbled pudding. The crumble mix cooks from frozen when you sprinkle it over the chopped up fruit - with a slosh of whatever vino happens to be to hand at the time to loosen up the fruit and stop it going brown if necessary. Serve with yoghurt - hot pudding, cold yoghurt - utterly gorgeous.

Main course - you've got it covered, I think. Chilli in the slow cooker. Fab.

Bras. The more comfortable they are, the more I know they need replacing. I've never done the fiddling and twiddling around the back thing - they get hooked up where I can see them, twirled and then the straps hauled up. The last and final bit that gets overlooked when I'm in a hurry - settle the puppies individually in their baskets. Lift and relax - the result on cleavage is miraculous.

Challenge Update: I have a belt to make, hemming and sleeve turning up to do, and then it will be complete. Although I need to add a loop to hang it by as a pattern adjustment. I put it on last night - it feels like wearing air. Lovely.
    Better is good enough.

Morning all, had a lie in till 8.30 as had an unusually unsettled night with LittleyDog wanting to go out. Anyhow, hope everyone is ok and knitting is going well and days out are good etc. Loving the how to put on a bra, any flylady who has met me knows I don't need support so I wear bras that are all one piece and just go on over my head like a t-shirt, they are like crop tops really!

So far today, I have been making tomato and pepper soup for our tea tonight, have done a meal plan and sent the shopping list for DH to get on his way home. What I now need to do:

    Get dressed
    Finish making soup
    Wash up
    Hoover downstairs
Walk dogs remembering to pop to garage to organise service
    Gardening

    Have a great day everyone.
