Do you let your cats sleep with you

Cats are barred from the beds in my house now. I had a terrible eye condition, with abcesses inside my eyelids. One of my cats was treated for gingivitis and I found out the bacteria in his mouth was probably responsible. He was washing himself and coating his fur (and my bedding) in lots of nasty germ-laden saliva!
This is what I mean and it works the other way round too, we can give 'illnesses' to animals too.
Hope you are okay now or will be soon.....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Thanks for all your replies. I do love my cats sleeping with me and I know it would be hard to stop them doing it. I find it very difficult to get rid of the hairs they shed on the duvet, the hoover hose just sucks up the quilt, I've got one of those sticky roller things that you rinse and ue again but it only does so much of the quilt before it gets full and needs rinsing and drying out. I have got a fleece blanket over the bed but they still manage to get hairs on my duvet cover, how do you deal with this?
My two cats sleep in the bed with me at night, used to be three and a greyhound!
My male cat is really funny, just as I am settled in bed and switch off the light, he appears from nowhere to sleep on the pillow beside me. Not sure if he's trying to protect me or comforting himself.:rotfl:
I spend 10 mins every night removing pet hair thoroughly with paper lint rollers. I go through loads of them!
Nice to go to sleep with a car gently purring beside you.0 -
My tom, stays in his basket till 5am then gets up for his biscuits and comes through to sleep on my bed till I get up.
Often during the evening if he wants to be quiet he goes in there as well.I have a furry throw and he likes that.0 -
We dont have a cat, but our dog (8kg small terrier) is allowed to sleep on our bed at night if she wants to. She has access to kitchen, hallway/stairs and our bedroom at night so sometimes she chooses to sleep in the kitchen in her bed and sometimes she stays upstairs with us on our bed/bedroom floor. I wash my bedding regularly. I don't see it as a problem.
Obviously if she was unwell then she would be shut downstairs.Slimming World Member - Started 05/02/150 -
My last 2 mogs slept on our bed, the yam on my feet and girlie on my chest (I hardly move during sleep). The 2 we have now usual vie for my right hand side. Some mornings we have (in this order, left to right) dog, husband, me, son, cats. I love it. Recently one cat has taken to sleeping on LO's bed but the other morning he moved his feet and got a little scratch (I've had many!) It's funny as they are developing a really strong bond, the little rescue cat used to avoid him like the plague but now she actively seeks out a fuss from him (LO is 4).0

yes, my cat does that too - my bed is his favourite quiet spot in the daytime, whether we're home or not.0 -
We have two 18mth brothers we rehomed a couple of months ago and they have already taken over the bed :rotfl:They get as close as they possibly can to sleep.I swear the one was a dog in a previous life he loves nothing better than having his belly tickled :rotfl:.
Will speak my mind because that"s how i am0 -

I seem to remember an article about cats sleeping with humans and it was actually said that it really wasn't good for the cats health, breathing in stuff as well as dust mites etc. etc.
Personally I think its disgusting to let any animal be in that close a proximity for 8 or so hours.
They are animals, not people.
I think my cats are far more hygienic than a lot of people who share beds for 8 hours! :rotfl: I know who I'd chooseI just enter and forget...hoping to win something!0
