This is only a flying visit between celebrating and packing, lol, as we exchanged contracts on our sale and purchase today.....yay :j
Superb news, phoebe! :T:beer::j
You are so brave. After this one, I don't intend to tackle another refurb job.... ever!
It's not that I mind the mess and confusion, but I find interior design terribly difficult. I know you feel about it differently, but I'm happier designing gardens.
Anyway, all the best for the move and do keep us posted about your new home, which sounds very exciting.0 -
morning all,
I am fed up of this cold now, it keeps coming and going, very 'flemmey' this morning and coughing like a good un..
Maybe there is sooo much of this going round, because we had a mild winter last year, it hasn't killed off bugs etc, so we got more of them around this winter??
home from the ranch now for a few hours... to do some cleaning and cooking and to also light the fire to air the house out...
I have found ebay slow for this time of the year, normally things sell well-ish but year on year, its getting slower and slower... will have to have a rummage through my stash next week, and just throw more stuff on the bay.. and hopefully people will be last minute buying..Work to live= not live to work0 -

Thank you Dave, Alfie, Choille et al
Sounds as though the current phase of your project is moving towards the finish line Dave, then you can get back to what you do best (and I don't just mean pantos, lol!).....
We are extremely excited - and it's not such a *major* project as this one was, thankfully.....for starters all the rooms have proper flooring (original parquet in some) and the walls have plaster, yippeeeeee, so we can at least give them a quick coat of emulsion to make it feel like home
I'm so looking forward to being able to walk into a village with more than just a couple of shops (as we have here) and not have to rely on my chauffeur
The garden has the potential to be beautiful - as it once was - with an amazing wisteria-clad verandah. The gardener we've had found to quote for new fencing said he has never seen a wisteria like it.....just need to get it off the roof
Once we're in and t'internet is sorted I'll try to remember to post some pics......

Sounds like you need a hot toddy CTC. Colds that linger on are a pain. I had one earlier in the year & it took weeks to shake off the hacking cough.
Phoebe it sounds wonderful.Wisteria is gorgeous = there's one in Dingwall that is like something out of the Hobbit. I grew 4 from seed that took a long time to be a decent sized twig & then they perished in a harsh Winter.
It will be life changing for you living in a place where you can access shops & such. I do envy you that. There are times when I do wonder what I am doing living in the wilderness, but then again it's coz it's absolutely shoite weather just now.....0 -
first tree up :j i have NEVER been this early !! tad excited0
-
Alfie the tree looks marvellous. I have never done one coz of having nought cats.
The boots you sent arrived today & they are really gorgeous, but they are too big. OH tried them as he thought he was gonna get them on & really likes them but they are just a wee bit too short. They are real crackers & I am sad they don't fit, but I will try & sell em & then use the money to get something similar as they are absolutely gorgeous yet practical too. What are we to do with such a generous & lovely lady as yerself?
Is the original address on the box yours?0 -
-
OH has now cut his toe nails & decided that they will fit him if he doesn't wear his usual mega thick socks - too much detail.
He just loves them but he has to get me a pair & Alfie a pressie!
The weather is quite disgusting out there - slet, hail, goodness knows what it's gonna look like tommorra, but I have sheep to sort out & move.
Been listing on the bay but sales seem to have slowed up = all these listings staking up. Still what else would I do of an evening?0 -
morning all,
I back at home no1 early today, just couldn't sleep, and I got more cooking to do... ( try to do some batch cooking on the weekends so it make life a bit easier food wise for a couple of days)
Alfie is one in a trillion...
Choille yep its lingering and being a pain now... apart from good old Panadol, and a eating a bit of honey I don't go into all these flu/cold things they sell, hopefully it will go soon..
Yes ebay is slow this year, just showing the signs of the times, people are cutting back year on year at Christmas time. we def have over the years..
No tree up again for us this year... unless I have a last minute pang.. and put some sort of decorations up..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Hope the cough goes soon. I used to make raspeberry vinegar & swig that diluted with boiling water - lovely stuff. It does soothe a sore throat & seems to ease a tickly cough.
We seem to be getting mega cheap roasts just now out of Morrissons - pork, gammon, beef & doing that with loads of veggies roasted together on a rack & that does us days - really easy to make a meal when it's all cooked & it is even tastier after a few days. Just need to do more veggies.
Blowing a hooley here & snow at the back of it. Grey & depressing.0
