You go for it alfie!
We're having a minimalist Christmas. No tree because of the renovations & general disruption, but in any case the kids aren't going to be here for different reasons....besides the fact that they aren't kids! We've done stockings way into their 20s.
I've explained this to our Christmas Tree Man, so he doesn't think we've deserted him for a rival. I dare say he will miss our long perambulation around his plantation, tying ribbons to umpteen trees, before eventually asking him to cut one 300 yards away in a far corner! :rotfl:0 -
Dave - Gumtree is great for kitchen units. I got the main ones on there - brand new, still boxed for £100. Shaker style, but I've painted the doors.
Does anyone think that pale grey matt paint on the main units that will run down one wall will look okay with a glossy black island unit? I'm so excited about this latest aquisition it's shocking.
Two tone kitchens are all the rage, choille.
Me, I'd just be happy if we could get the kitchen price down about £4k. I don't care what it is!
In the New Year we'll probably find what we need for the utility on Gumtree or the Bay.....too close to Christmas now, I think. Currently working on finding tiles for there. Not too hard, fortunately.
Pleased with the electricians we're having. They've given a very decent ball-park figure of around £3k for a total rewire, saying it will be quicker and better than trying to tack bits on to what we have. I agree. The present system, like everything else here, 'just growed,' like Topsy. It's a mess.0 -
Hi Guys
This is only a flying visit between celebrating and packing, lol, as we exchanged contracts on our sale and purchase today.....yay :j
Whilst it will only have been a total of 3.5 months from putting our house on the market till completion on 16th Dec, the last few weeks have literally dragged as we've had so many issues with our buyer's buyer who is currently in a war-zonebut didn't let that stop her dropping her offer price just prior to the original planned exchange date
Anyway, the most important hurdle is past now and we (and our buyer) are so excited to finally be moving in time for Christmas :j
Hope everyone here on the thread is well and enjoying the pre-Christmas season......and thanks for all your support over the years too.....xxxMortgage-free for fourteen years!

Good for you Alfie - You are good to your parents.
Dave - Two tone kitchens are all the rage....Goodness, I've always thought I was ahead of the pack0 -
Well done Phoebe - That is so exciting. You must be chuffed to bits, but exhausted too - like a roller coaster.0

Hello (properly this time!) Sorry for being away for so long but recent life changes have taken over and I have delightfully busy
I do read every day, or every second day at least but I have just not had time to post.
I hope you are all well and getting ready for a festive break. It will be Rumlets first Christmas and I am so looking forward to seeing him tuck into his turkey and trimmings
My garden is untidy and I am trying not to give it another thought until February although as always I have big plans for next year :rotfl:
The kitchen chat is of real interest to me atm as it is the room in our house in need of the most work and the thought of the costs is a bit overwhelmingWhen I looked at prices they varied so extremely that I have no idea how much to save before considering getting quotes! It is a galley kitchen and not that large so I can't see it being ridiculously expensive but there is a lot to do in it so it could be pricey.
Snow showers today which was  I am so used to mild weather that I feel completely unprepared for grim weather :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Lovely to hear from you Rummer - being delightfully busy sounds really very nice indeed.
There are some good buys out there if you keep an eye out. Those where you get quotes for the whole sheebang are a reet rip off.0 -
