What I hate about this time of year is we're slipping into the shortening day routine and my diurnal rhythm is adjusting, dogs are coping, are bodies are in sync....then whoosh, we'll be out of sync for a bit because I have to keep going with light and fir has to go by clock for trains and stuff, so there is a sort of battle of dogs' bladders and chicken wants versus clocks.0

Bit scratchy against the skin....?
Yes, isn't it getting dark early now? I don't mind winter too much, but I hate the sudden shift in feel between late August and Mid October.
It was a difficult day for our roofing gang today, mainly because the underfelt was blowing about madly, but we now have it all in place, battened, and the gullies formed and filled. Tomorrow threatens to be better, but they will be underneath, adding all the other support timbers.
I've been mostly down a hole, still digging out the inspection chamber. I know my place! :rotfl:
While up on the scafolding/roof, I took some photos of the views we shall never quite have. I noted the conifers on the valley side were taller than I remembered. Slowly, it dawned.... we might so easily have gone for the view at huge extra expense, only to have most it taken away by these potential telegraph poles. Not sure when they will be cut. Tomorrow? 20 years time?
Here's a piccie of the extended chicken house. Can you see the join?0 -
