Sending you The Vibes for that meeting Dave! :) I love the idea of MiL doing notes in shorthand and giving a copy - wish that was available for PIP assessments! ;) :rotfl: Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Cyber hugs to you and Mrs Dave and MiL from Liverpool.

    Hi Dave - Good luck.

MIL sounds great - will she be wearing the wire? Get it taped. Wise move.

Been raining here & cold. Place is a slidey bog again.

Maggie hope things work out for you too.

Hope it's going or has gone ok this morning, Dave.

Fingers crossed for you too, maggie.

    Gorgeous lambs, Dafty.

It has been lovely in the East, got washing out today, but I really don't like the look of the weather for the next couple of days

Well, it's hard to know how the meeting went, but as both sides have a digital record, maybe that will become clearer later. We got across all the main points we wanted to make. Stuff like:

"We didn't receive a scaled drawing of the structure, or even one that was visually accurate."

"But you never asked for one. If you'd asked......"

"Here is the letter we sent to you expressing our disappointment when you advised us that a scale-drawing could not be provided."

    "Ah..."

It was really helpful having back-up from real carpenters & joiners + the fact that our builder has an engineering background.

After 90 minutes of trying various ways to bamboozle us, the MD cut to the chase and offered to investigate raising the roof pitch and/or offer us a cash incentive to accept what we have if that isn't possible. Of course, anything's possible, but I expect he'll go with what will cost him the least. We doubt if his cash offer will be enough.

He seemed very keen to frighten us with the idea of 5 figure costs if it goes to law, but as we don't think he has a case, that's not scary. The company breached the T&C printed on their own contract, so we hardly need to hire a QC to show that.

I think he's concerned that we will go to the Glass & Glazing Federation, because the bad workmanship already proven and acknowledged by him won't go down well there. They are the final guarantors if things go paridae-up. I didn't even mention that today, as it's a battle already won, nor did he mention the GGF until right at the end when it was dismissed as something we might usefully avoid.

Hmmm. Frankly, I think it's where we'll be in a week or two. Hope I'm wrong. :undecided

Bet you're glad the meeting's over.

Bear in mind that the reason you're not allowed to use digital recording for DWP assessments is that it's too easy to alter them. Or so we're told.

Sounds promising though. These so-called builders who mess things up should be brought to book. Just sorry it's you and yours who are having to do it. Hope it all pans out ok for you. Let me know when you need The Vibes again! ;)

Cyber hugs to you and Mrs Dave from Liverpool.

Maybe. It took muggins here about an hour to work out how to download! :o However, I believe there is software that can manipulate the recordings once they're on the 'puter.

Usually I use DD2's machine, but now she's a manager, she uses hers to record major meetings etc. Ironic, as it was originally provided to assist with her disability in school!

Anyway, I hope your assessment goes as well as possible, maggie. Like us, I expect you'll have to wait and see what happens after the big stress event. :(

In other news, I read tonight that we raised £2.2k for charities with the Panto, which isn't far short of our best figure, so the odd few empty seats didn't hit us hard.

We were a bit miffed that the village hall committee members vetoed our donation of £££ worth of chocolate for prizes. The reason:"it's all out of date." :rotfl:Well, durr, it would be, because that's how it ends up in the staff shop for pennies, but there was no changing their minds!:wall:

We are now stuck with more Green & Blacks than the London Irish rugby team....and we're dieting, so it'll all have to go some place else....but where?confused-smiley-013.gif

great amount of £s for charity, dave ! re the chocolate is it a use by or sell by date... ? cos they reckon that's only an advisory [some eec/eu? ] and lots of foods don't need it...

Beautiful pics alfie, I'm afraid I have no idea on which one to pick.

Am I the only one that immediately thought 'animals' when you said you were babysitting 3 boys?? Reading it again I think you mean 'human' boys. Have fun :D

Dave, I'll PM you my address for the chocolate ;)

That's an excellent amount raised at the panto, well done.

I thought Storm Doris was starting to hit earlier, but it's calmed down and the sun is out now. The forecast looks bad for this afternoon/evening ~ I'm really glad I'm not living in a caravan!! :rotfl:
