Lots of exciting options PP, even if funds are tight. We did November after 1/2 term in West Wales for a few years, and it was almost cheaper than staying at home.

We've hardly seen the fog here, although I heard on the radio that it was affecting the M5 near Exeter. We've mostly had bright sunshine. :D

Nothing of note to report, but the cats were traumatised today. Lila managed to climb inside a black plastic sack in the 'costume room,' and whilst in there, she somehow got her head stuck through a carrier bag handle. Panicking, she rushed out from under the bunk bed, with this bag apparently pursuing her!

Now when Lila goes into overdrive, she barely touches the ground, and so there she was, tearing around the house and over the furniture. It looked just like the bag was chasing her. This freaked Izzy out, who bolted through the cat flap.

We extricated Lila, but she was inconsolable and shot out of the cat flap too.

Now, about 10 hours later, we've coaxed both cats inside again. They're still sulking and haven't eaten a thing! :rotfl:

I think it's the rustling noise that spooks them.

No fog here - we don't get it too often, but do get low cloud that descends very fast & catch out the climbers & hill walkers. It can just drop in minutes.

Been trying to dig reeds out of the blackcurrants again which is infested with them. It's a job I'm going slow at as I want to break my back in slowly, not break my back. Will have to do something about the fields as they are really needing topped of them. They've taken over.

    Traumatised Cat Report

Yesterday, after a peaceful night, locked-in, both cats went out and stayed out all day, rather than face the possibility of another attack by Carrier Bag Monster.

Finally, at about 9pm, we captured them, they had some food and again we locked them in for a few hours.

This morning, Lila went out before first light, but returned to eat breakfast at 07.45. She seems fine. Izzy is still very jumpy, but managed a small amount of breakfast.....

What have we done to these poor animals?

Goodness Dave they do become hyper-vigilant sometimes.

I was given hens by the shop keeper who is giving up the shop as it's been very quiet for them & the far away shop have sort of taken away the trade before they opened & people have stayed loyal even though it's 10 miles away they did a delivery service. I feel vexed for them as they've tried everything to coax in the customers - open days for charity - home baking, carol singing, fund raising for the school.

Well three new hens moved in with the Orps, one stayed out all night - goodness knows where. And they are laying out - which I did find a nest of four eggs. It's nice to have them about but I will need to keep them in until they've layed or else it's egg hunt time.

Lovely day here - glorious - birds are nest building which isn't right at all.

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions :) It should be September time when we move up, although this has been complicated after a meeting today & may be pushed back.

An out of season cottage or static sounds good, although I'm not hopeful the prices will be as low as I would want, definitely worth looking into though.

I've also been looking at buying somewhere and if we can get a mortgage at the right rate and for as many years as possible then buying should be cheaper than renting. I'm rapidly going off the idea of a touring caravan with the freezing cold weather we have today :o

choille, our resident Thrush has started singing again so I'm guessing he's already looking for a mate. No signs of life on the cherry tree yet ~ last year I had blossom out in early February.

Dave, your poor kitties, hope they're less traumatised now. We had the same thing happen to one of our adopted kittens (one of them was obsessed with a pair of wellies in a carrier bag & managed to get the handle round his neck) and when one panics they all panic!!

I can't believe wellies was autocorrected to a rude word, I thought it was supposed to be the other way round :rotfl:

PP - the forum have sent me a yellow card for doing a bleep word that was not printed out - I used an * in place of the first letter.

So they seem to be a retentative on some things but some of the stuff on other threads is a bit racist etc. Depends who is doing the Policing I suppose.

Drizzly here & a bit cooler, but it has been a terrific spell of weather this last wee while.

    Don't like the kitchen Dave?
