How is CTC doing Alfie?
Wet here again, but milder. Dreich.
The place is a bog.0 -
hope the weather is not defeating anyone !!
At this time of the year we often can't get the van into the bottom yard, but it's solid. Stream's flowing, but just steady.
It would be great weather for doing the hedging along the road, but I really need the new battery chain-saw to push on with that. Currently it's still on order from a source where it will be trade price and VAT free, so I can't do much to chivvy it up. I have a petrol jobbie, but it won't allow me to hear what might be coming at crucial moments!
I finally finished the second soak-away for the conservatory yesterday, but we're no further forward with that. We're waiting on a reply from the company director, but as that will only be a first response, there's probably some way to go in negotiation. My inclination is to push them to the limit. I'm looking into having it surveyed as it stands, but I have no idea who I'd employ to do that. More research!
Panto is remarkably complicated and too long this year, flagging noticeably in one scene, but I doubt if anyone will get the red pen out now. It's already been whittled-down by 6 pages.
We are supposed to be getting all the miscanthus bedding in HW's stables soon, when they clear them out. It's at least 40cm deep! Not sure where we'll use it yet, but it must be good mulch?
PP I think I'd rent first, get to know it well and look to be ready to pick up a bargain towards the end of the year.
.....Or there's always HW's place!Bit further south and needs a lot of work. Personally I'd not touch it with someone else's barge pole!

dave.... could the council do a survey/report for you if they are the bods that have to sign it off ? or is that too close to home
first sunny day today... started very mild but temps drastically dropping now !
we've been forecast a maybe minus over the next few nights ..
the koi have done remarkably well considering "the move" and this pond not being as deep as their last des res... they are being fed 2-3 times a week at the mo to keep em going..
collected some more goldfish from a pond being emptied last weekend and it sounded like they were reasonable size [for pond no2] so off I went with nets and containers... well, the couples pride and joys were all of 3" long..so going armed to catch orcas looked a tad embarrassing !!!:rotfl: popped em in pond 2 and haven't seen them since
maybe in 10 years time they will make a ripple when they swim past !
im sat on sofa with 3 dogs all squished in a heap with the cat in the middle of themshes not daft !...

.... well, you did say you'd feed the large Koi 2- 3 times a week... no need for a further feed until Friday.
Doves are smart! No idea how the family of three jailbreak into the barn, but they do so, without fail. The less smart others just linger hopefully (now officially joined by "Fez", who's hiding from the shootists) and look dumb, while these three perch and coo where the food is stored.
Fez is still nervous, but he runs like stink up TO the farm at feeding time. Another beak to feed! Being kept awake much of the night by the darn owls as well... Isn't the countryside just horrid!
I've got a cold, and sneezing for ingerland. Scares the cats each time...:rotfl: Good excuse to take it easy for a few days, and stop spreading mud absolutely everywhere. I am SO messy0 -
crispy here this morning !!
white out but not sbow just deep frost. sun shone like a good'n all day...
I love putting piles of hay out and seeing all the puffs of hot breath whilst they are chomping away .....
this weather has been forecast to last for 4-5 days so I don't mind ...better than bl**dy rain any day !
im getting all new side gates and posts either side of my cattlegrid.. got a silly turnstile type gate there [sort you have to walk into a fenced bit , open it and go through, either way it fills the space ! im sure it has a proper name]... good job I am really as son whacked one of the posts reversing out this morning and it somewhat "leans " now ... the other side is a slim gate to a very narrow path between stock fencing and a hedge that leads round back to the cess pit.. never used it in 3 years so will have to get it all cut back ...
lots of projects im hoping to def complete this year !!0 -
It's been positively Spring-like here today Alfie - walked down to the shore where there was a massive mushroom washed up. It looked bizarre. Seemed fresh. Wonder where that had come from?
It did drizzle most of the day & everywhere is a bog, but it's about 10 degrees. The weather is odd.
I did wash the windows as you couldn't see out of them after the gales. I don't do that job very often & used a mop & a squeegee on a broom handle, but at least now we don't need the light on during the day!0 -
Sounds like a kissing gate, alfie.
I suppose our weather was somewhere between yours and choille's...no frost, max about 7c and sunny-ish.
I was doing a bit of this and a bit of that, if you know what I mean. There's so many things that need attention, I can't seem to settle to one of them.
Shortly, my new chain saw will arrive, and then I'll be doing about 2 hours a day on the hedge. It all has to be sorted by April, but I reckon that's the time I'll have for it. It's good that the days are stretching-out a bit now....5.15 tonight was still not properly dark.
PS. I had a wee bonfire on choille day too!
Someone is re-opening the village Market soon. They caught me at the weekend and asked if we'd do plants again. Well, what could I say?I'm trying to rescue stock from vine weevils now and wishing it was the fishing season; there are so many grubs!
Of course I'm fly only, you understand, but like choille's mushroom, things get stuck on the end of my hook. :cool:0 -
that's the one dave.... pain in the butttttt0
