Dave sounds bad the conservatory. Did it get Planning? As it shouldn't have passed Building Control, but you may have a different system - not required maybe coz of size?

No planning as a direct replacement (almost:o ;)) and no building regs as not part of main house: external door between.)

Had an amazingly arrogant email from the surveyor. If we want evidence of how impossible it was to work with him, we now have it in his own words!

Basically, he says that he rarely involves the customer in decision making, due to them being prone to confusion and lacking understanding.

Oh, and all his drawings are for illustrative purposes, so the fact that they show measures to three decimal places means nothing. Apparently, being 100% out on measures is fine. 5 degrees is very like 10 degrees.

Err, but hang on, if he won't discuss technical stuff with customers, and they can't rely on anything he produces on paper, how can they be sure what he's doing, or the end result?

Logic really isn't his strong suit. :rotfl:

He has admitted the box gutter mounting is 'below standard,' although how he knows isn't clear.....unless they do it that way by default, until caught-out. ;)

No word from the company itself. I wonder if they realise he's going off at half-c0ck, shooting his feet. Almost every paragraph is a gem, and there are lots! :D

Sort of nearly packed and ready for the off tomorrow. Weather forecast looks terrible but OH is determined, I think I'll just need knocking out until we arrive as I'll be squeaking at every slip and slide.

Choille, logistics not sure how but if we can we will.

Surveyor doesn't sound right at all. Arrogant is one word to call him, but how rude to say he doesn't discuss tech stuff with clients.

It is all so exhausting when you have these sort of people to deal with - it saps energy.

Blowing a storm - hardly stand up out there & it's bitter out. Just feeling sleepy after a scoffing roast chicken - bought one, not home reared one.

When we tried to get a proper scaled drawing from him in September, he said he couldn't do it.

He kept sending us those silly little drawings....and they always had mistakes in them. So then we blew one up on the copier and sent him an annotated version......and it still came back wrong!

But much of that wouldn't have been necessary if he'd just discussed final details sensibly on his last visit.

Instead, he was so abrupt & rude we contacted the company afterwards, worried that things would still be a muddle. We even offered to go 50 miles to their main office to get it sorted 1:1. but they turned us down. They just said 'chill....see what he comes up with.'

    Well, now we've seen!

Glad I still have the notes from that conversation.

Anyway, in other news, I was back behind the mower and the brushcutter today, before tomorrow's rain. Grass and weeds are not at a standstill at all. :(

Take care all you folk up there in the Highlands.:)

We may have a wee flurry here, but it'll not stay.

Sounds like he doesn't know what he's doing.

Cutting grass Dave - Gee, how mad is that? Everywhere is a bog here, but the grass is still growing. Well, it may stop soon.

Even over here in the east, I planted grass seed first week of December....

It's an inch high, and dense. The bank of it I planted back in November needs cutting. Mad, innit?

May not be a supermoon, but just wandered round the farm and woods in the moonlight, no torch needed. Bitterly cold in the wind, though, so needed a good whisky to warm up bits.

dave,,,, it sounds like a bunch of wallies ! takes me back to my mr prat who built a soak away on old cess pit [last house] so that it very efficiently soaked all surrounding water IN....... even seeing it visually FLOW IN before he infilled the trench ...he would not have it " I know what im doing, you don't" ....!!!
I must admit I always take notes re any conversations/actions of what could potentially be a problem ...

to snow or not to snow ?? I think we may miss it [coast winds tend to blow anything inland away from here. ] I love snow , but understand "our" snow does not match ,say "choille" snow !

my grass is horrendously long but cant cut as so damp from constant nightly mists/fogs..
BUT I have a beautifull cerise coloured rhodie that is blooming !! and my acanthus's [sp] have never died back .. they are huge clumps [3'x2'] and low flower shoots visible ??

having another 30 bales of hay dropped off today.... just incase !

sadly little Lakeland terrier pup didn't work out for the lady. she is so upset but pup is just a bit too fast for her and is going to knock her over .. it is such a beaut pup too... so fast at training !! needs a good outdoor more home. so pups coming back to me and I will rehome. best to do it while its still a babby.. [14 weeks]

We have hail on & off but not much snow - we don't get much usually, but then again we can. I think the thunder snow is due down South - we seem to get that now - last four Winters it's been a feature.

Sorry about the pup Alfie - it will make someone a good pet.

Just been up the road and it's coming down in blizzards.

I've fed animals, but will go up later with some more haylage.

Just got the binoculars out, looks like there's a sprinkle of snow on the hills in Wales, but hard to tell as it's getting a bit dim. Will hopefully get a better idea in the morning if it's clear.
