Thanks poppy, maggie and Dafty. We've seen progress today; in fact we lost Izzy most of the afternoon, because she was outdoors and no one saw her go.
So, fingers crossed..... the lure of twittering and squeaky things has obviously done the trick, but the catnip is a great idea. I grow it for them, but none of mine is around just now, of course.
Mind you, things are bursting forth, and far too soon, but I can hardly tell the plants off for reacting to such a mild winter. It will all end in tears if we have a cold snap, but I think it's a bit late for a long, cold regime to establish now.
Famous last words.....:silenced:
Well after another few hours in the hedge, I'm well pleased with my new [STRIKE]toy[/STRIKE] tool, but I've not solved the problem of blackthorn prickles. Nice heavy gloves = knocking the chain brake on too often, while nice light gloves = ouch!
Now I'm a bit stuck. I have a line of ash which I'd like to cut and/or lay, but with the winds we have, some are almost bound to fall in the road. I suppose it'll have to be very early Sunday morning.......:o0 -
I just did the Feliway test and it says Izzy is just slightly in danger of being stressed.
Mind you, our cats are probably not very normal. A plastic bag round the neck might freak them out for a few days, but start up a Kango hammer and demolish something......nothing! :rotfl:0 -
Catnip... When our DD1 was in Guides their summer camp had a day trip to Caernarfon and one of the gifts she brought back was a home made catnip mouse from a little shop in the city. Our LadyCat just loved it - she chewed it, rolled on it, salivated all over it... It definitely hit the spot for her! It was dried catnip in that mouse - might be worth trying to harvest some of it next year?0

hi all
and the heavens opened and sent alfies way the rains and winds of RAN...
it has not let up !!
unfortunately pre rain ,the barn storing the hay was having a tiles fix on the roof job, all done bar the bit over the hay !! so had to get in there and shift the lot to safer ground ..
horses are miserable in this so have put them in the area with 2 field shelters and they are all huddled in with the sheep between them looking like a giant cuckoo clock with the odd one popping their head out to check the weather !
took dolly daydream to be speyed yesterday only to find she is having a phantom pregnancy so couldn't be done... as vet says after every season she has probably been pregs in the past so her body thinks she is this time... poor gal, got to keep checking her and whip her in when it all subsides!
re cat dave, she probably will settle once the weather does.. if she has a favourite outbuilding/barn pop a litter tray/box in there... they just don't want to get wet mud on their nether regions usually...
our local panto is in self destruct... sadly a "lady" [hyacinth bucket type] took over the producting 2-3 years back and "having tv/theatre production experience" she feels it now needs to move to a new venue 4 miles across the forest which rather defeats the name "pi**ey panto" ..... as it wouldn't be ! parents don't want to cart kids across the forest roads in the dark/weather for rehearsals etc. half the original crew have left [me included] and half the artists ! she has lost the plot that half the innuendos in past years was aimed at the localsso any misdameanors were brought out much to the raptures of the audience... now its just flat as she kurbs any add libbing ... shame as its been going for years..
right im off to battle the elements to get hay ,in a wheel barrow that sinks more than glides , across terrain to hungry animogs !
keep safe everyone0 -

Hi All
Must be something in the name Izzy Dave. Had to take Izzy to the vet this week as she's been sick and had the squits. Seems slightly better today.
Not much happening at my end. Been up to Skye house and got lots of jobs done before the season starts, 9 weeks booked so far. Hopefully we get a lot more. Need another new window and nobody seems to know how it got damaged. Thinking about putting a stove in but will probably have to wait until we have the funds.
Been out in the garden and are hoping to reseed an area that's been left neglected. When's the best time to do that? OH is desperate to get the rotavator in.
Still trying to organise OHs 50th. Date, venue and DJ booked just wish people would reply then I can sort the catering.

Hi all ( sneaks back in )
Sorry I haven't posted.so much going on ..
You think you are getting sorted and then MIL goes and breaks her pelvis . And while in hospital they done a brain scan. And she has the early onset of vascular cognitive dimensions .The Dr said she is prob having little mini type strokes which might be the reason for the falls .
With all the mayhem of her being in hospital etc I am no longer working in the meat packing factory I was out of their house 12hours a day. And with hubby running around with his mother we just couldn't keep on top of things with the animals. So I am trying to do some sort of work from the house.
I have been working on something.. which is in its early stages .. but it's going to take a long time before any sort of pennies can be made from it.
No more progress with the house .Still living between the house and the caravans .
Will have a catch up read and post later
Take care out there everyone in this horrible weather..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Hi CTC, nice to see you back
Sorry to hear about your MIL, hopefully she will get the care she needs. Exciting about your new venture, hope it works out for you.
Dave, glad Izzy is hopefully back to normal.
alfie, had to laugh at your giant cuckoo clock :rotfl:
lucielle, a stove would definitely appeal to me if I was looking at accommodation, they do seem to be very popular at the moment.
maggie, hope you're doing ok.
No further forward with plans for our flittin'Things seem to have ground to a halt after the meeting last week and we're not even talking about it now. It will happen, but maybe not this year after all
I suppose delaying it gives us a bit more time to research, pay off the existing mortgage etc., but I'm still disappointed.
We were out for a drive along the coast this morning and passed through a lovely village called Sandsend. There's the most gorgeous row of stone cottages just on the edge of the village and it just reminded me that I would absolutely love to live somewhere like that.'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -

Thank you for thinking of me- struggling with both health and PIP issues at the mo.
Sorry to hear your Daydream on hold for now. Don't leave it too long - I have mine now, but health means mostly I do nothing about it. OH has fun at the lottie though, so that's great. Our spuds arrived today. In cool dark place for now, as not sure we'll be frost free yet. Will start chitting in a couple of weeks I think, even keeping them back a couple of weeks will help I hope!
Last week saw consultant who now wants me to have flexible sigmoidoscopy as I totally refused to do the colonoscopy he preferred me to have (the colonography prep for aged and infirm damn near killed me and the colonoscopy is reputedly worse...) It's prob nothing to worry over anyway, a "just in case" thing, but I don't think he "gets" ME/CFS.
Next week we go to Bury to meet someone who I hope will be able to advocate for me at Tribunal. I'm so glad to have found a relatively local organisation who may be able to help - my brianis shot with stress over it all, but if they can't help me I'll still try do it anyway, whether brian likes it or not!

My names Fay and I am a slave to a cat with a big catnip addiction. He's tried it all and we now have to source him yeowww toys, or we get a right beating (or woken up by things being knocked onto our head from the bedside table). He's a tough master but fair at times as he will allow us occasionally to sleep until 630am and eat some of the tuna we have opened for ourselves.
So I can recommend the yeowww toys, we source them from Amazon, or the black market, depending on how the stock levels are https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yeowww-Banana-Singles-Cat-Toy/dp/B000AUJFHE/ref=sr_1_6?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1486071424&sr=1-6&keywords=Catnip+toys
Edited to day I haven't grown any cat nip yet as I fear he might never come out of a stupor, but I have got cat mint in the garden which he can't stand. The other cats love it so he sprays on it, and sprays and sprays. But he doesn't like it himself at all...and I thought I might get some brownie points for it, but nope.0
