Lit the new wood burner tonight!
:j:cool:
I wanted to do it yesterday, but she who does the painting wasn't happy and insisted on tweaking it today.
We've been incredibly warm tonight and all I've loaded it with so far is fairly poor quality wood I tidied-up last spring. It's much more frugal than the last one.
Sorry to read of your fall, maggie. Not a good time to be allotmenting really, but hopefully you'll be much better when it is.
Edit: Pay no attention to the wall. We are testing paint.....0 -
The fireplace and wood burner are lovely Dave. I bet it's so nice to have that heat source back again. Have you ever used little green paint company? It's not cheap but it's the best paint I've ever found. I've used farrow and ball once and never again it was too thin and took 4 coats. I ask because I have a marble fireplace which is a similar colour to yours and I've got hammock from little green in my lounge which looks quite like what you're testing. Could be worth a look?
I'm back to work tomorrow and whilst I don't feel 100% I feel much better than I did. I'm only at work 3 weeks before breaking up again so really need to go back and see clients before being off for nearly 3 weeks!
It's turn d very cold here. We went out for a curry last night and on the walk back even my hubby said he was cold which is quite unheard of!0 -
Thanks Fay. Brewers, where we buy our paint, stock Little Greene, so I'll take a look.
Those colours are wrong, though. Far too like the limestone surround, so I'll put DD2 on the case today, as she's with us today.
-2c here this morning and, unusually, Exeter's considerably colder.0 -
I have woodburner/fireplace envy here
Looks really lovely.

Bet you are now glad you dumped the Harlequin Hearth, Dave!0

I prefer what we have now, which is more muted, and the extra 10mm thickness made more difference than I expected.
But what's more important is that the stove's a belter, which doesn't chomp through the logs to extract all that heat. It's a revelation.
Fay, DD2 has done her stuff and they've selected a colour from a Heritage range, not unlike what I picked out on Little Greene's web site this morning before any of them were up!Hurrah, no more beige! :T
In other news, I took some of the soffits off today to see just how the conservatory guys have connected it to the house. I took plenty of photos. It's a lash-up, but then I already knew that. My requests for a site meeting have not been answered so far, but that's just going to make them look worse if this goes further.....and I expect it may.0 -

Fabulous! And good to know you'll get a colour similar to what you picked too. If you need paint in the future just try little green. I won't use anything else now lol. I would post a pic of my kitchen I did recently but I find the whole photo bucket a complete trial now lol0 -
I find the whole photo bucket a complete trial now lol
Just use Postimage like I do now.
Far too much in the way of ads etc on the big sites, and as my security software automatically blocks those, I find Photobucket virtually unusable. I just checked and picked up 23 different entities lurking in their site!
Here's a picture of the Christmas beer mugs DD2 gave some of her friends. She had to finish them here a couple of weeks ago:
One minute to load up and put here.
Edit: Just visible in the background is our confused contorted hazel, with errant straight branches still with green leaves on!0 -
