No grumbles from me tonight, just a question:
If you were in Panto playing Annie Oakley, the over-the-hill landlady of the saloon bar in a one-horse western town, would it be more appropriate for you to sing (badly):- Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darlin'
- I'm just a Girl Who Cain't Say No
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A18kYnP4Pec
I have been asked to do one, but I prefer the other!0 -
... so with your dire sense of panto humour ,im sure the innuendo's will fly fast and thick
'Carry on Cowboy' seems to be the main inspiration.0 -
As per the other thread, just take care WHAT parts get cut, given the costume.
"I'm just a girl" gets my vote. Belt that out, and there won't be a dry seat in the house! Um... Eye, dry eye....
Look forward to the pictures.... video too, please0 -
Alfie that's so kind of you - I have a bit in my PayPal & I have sort of chosen the shower which will be a head & a rinse arm thing as I have a skin condition. But many thanks indeed - you are so kind. You will be able to sell that on the bay easily.
Just seen a hawk that I don't recognise. Lovely day here & very mild.0 -
I hope the Sid James iconic laugh will be in the panto somewhere.
Kitten is getting fatter by the day, and it looks as though his eyes will be opening very soon
Been going into super drug the last week or so, as they are slowly reducing the household items right down in price to pennies, so been picking up some stuff o these should lady me a while. Things like light bulbs, soda crystals, scouring pads, flash cleaning liquid etc.
I have been so stressed about money coming in. And working for a job agency has no guarantee of work. I asked in the meat factory that the agency placed me at if there were any jobs there etc. And they have offered me a permanent position with them!!!! So from Monday I will be on their books. Only thing is the pay is monthly, so January is going to be tight. To say the least.
It's hard going and long hours. But it's a job. Until I can find something more local. ( It's over 20 miles away) and I am up at 4.15am every morning:oWork to live= not live to work0 -
hi all
well done ctc.. bit blu**y early !! but it will get you on your feet again I hope.
that kitten is getting maximum milk from mum that's why its a "porker" [excuse the pun]
I had a stall at a xmas event last night and not one person showed up !! we were all sat there like lemons !! sad cos it was to raise money for the volontary first responders in our area. I was actually cross with people being so apathetic to a good cause.. they do numerous call outs round here and have "saved" a few before ambulance got there .... felt disappointed for them...
ruby managed to get the "stuck" headcollar off herself this morning... thank goodness !
owner of jim jam came to inspect and was well happy with "my baby"...
shower is all renewed and working now.
lit the fire tonight as temp is dropping tonight and its really cosy.
got masses [7 bags] of daffodil bulbs for 50p a big bag [were 5.99 - 7.99] so got to get planting SOON...0 -
04.15 is hard, CTC, but anything's better than a zero hours contract, and meanwhile you can keep your ear to the ground for something better. It will happen!
Hmmm...odd about people not backing first responders in your area, alfie. Here, the Air Ambulance is definitely the number 1 charity. Only today, it landed somewhere in the village, although the 4x4 based first responders probably got there almost as quickly, as they're nearby. It was a good 30 minutes before I heard an ambulance. Vital services.
No great news here. We're still in a Mexican stand-off with the conservatory company. They haven't contacted us since they hit problems with box gutter and the ball's still in their court over that and the other issues.
We've painted the living room ceiling, mist coated the walls and collected the new hearth, so we're moving forward in there. The hearth is fine this time. We're really not that difficult as customers!0 -
hi all
it has been a damp dank week so far here. mizzly rain and overcast BUT its not too cold ..
the horses are all getting stuck into their hay now, which is unusual for this time of year... we still have plenty of grass but its obviously tasteless / useless !
I am so UN xmassy its ridiculous !! I have the "food" in but have 2 presents bought !!... I seem to have been work work work and not the umpf to get buying ? this cold has hung about and I thought it had gone but left me with a tiredness im hating ...
mum had a good time visiting sister [1 week] , she is coming to me for xmas eve/day/boxing day .
son is working xmas day , so we are having our "dinner" on boxing day. his GF is over from Canada till 8th jan so that's nice for them ..
he is off to Canada for 3-4 months in feb, he has 3 months unpaid leave from FBrigade plus some holiday time. he is just going to see what "living there involves but he doesn't really want to move there now . [show willing tho to try it for her families sake . GF finishes uni in sept and wants to come here then.. gets complicated !!

It was 14c in Lidl's car park at lunchtime today, although it may hit zero tonight. Then, Thursday will be bright, before windy stuff arrives on Friday....( reet bad 'oop norf,) By Christmas Day, Devon may be back to 14 or 15 C. It's bonkers!
On a more serious note, wildlife will probably be confused, and unless we get some proper cold, bugs will thrive.
The wasps, which survived the few frosts we had, must've finally conked towards the end of last week. I couldn't get a reaction from the nest on Monday. I think it must've been old age that did for them in the end. There were still plenty of rotten apples not far away.0 -
It's been a busy few days here.
We put the new hearth in on Monday, and completed most of the basic painting in the living room, including 3 coats on the ceiling.
The stove fitters came on Tuesday and installed the fire and limestone surround.
Today, the electricians dropped by and gave us lights and sockets in the living and linen rooms, so now, after only....err...8 years....we have our living room lights back in place. :j They've been in a box in the barn all that time,
With the Christmas tree up and other decorations around, it looks like a real living room again, not the bare shell we've been enduring since early 2014.
Thought I might have some bad news to impart re Horse Woman, but after going downhill following the fitting of a pacemaker, she's rallied. Early days, of course, and she won't be out of hospital by Christmas.0
