morning all,
there is def a nip in the air this morning...
going to wean the 2 litters today, well remove the mammy pigs.. the mother we had the major problems with should have been taken out ages ago, but she has been so good with them since.. and they have come on really well, we just left her in there, but as they will be going in just under 2 weeks, and plus there is now major pooping going on lol... its def time for her to go back out.
the time has really flown by.. and with these dark nights we seem to be doing nothing during the week, except work, feed animals, and then cwtch up in the caravan.
stroll on the spring...Work to live= not live to work0 -

went to the auction that Rhiwie normally goes to, thought I might have seen him there, but he wasn't there..
OMG the prices!! I haven't been to a general auction in years, only ever go to farm auctions now, which have bric-a-brac and furniture etc.. flip the prices were high..
managed to get an old table top butter churn for the ranch... will purely be for decoration, bought an old travel trunk to sell on, and some other bits of small furniture which will also be sold on...
picking up the bathroom suite up tomorrow, so fingers crossed its all ok.lol
We stay mostly local now CTC. The last few times we went to that auction it was rammed with buyers and some prices were getting silly. Our last auction was 10 days back and we picked up 45 lots, some good, some not, which we are ploughing through atm in between GD sleepovers. We see the W Wales and Borders buyers there too, no place is free from competition
Some gems in there, including a 1951 programme/ticket/dinner menu of a Cardiff RFC player 1913/14 which has 60+ autographs of British Lions and Welsh greats at Cardiff for Cardiff RFC's 75th anniversary in 1951. And we've just sold a fair amount of interwar cricketing memorabilia. But the best item, a superb photo album, went to someone who will respect the memory of a brave man.
Congrats on the pig prices, we will travel a distance to get unwanted stock to the right B&M auction house, it can really pay!0 -
there were loads of postcard lots there that where bring silly money well over £100 per lot...
also Albums and singles bring well over £100 per lot too.. I know some singles and Albums can fetch good money.
I was talking to an established dealer who buys and ships container fulls over to the auctions in the usa, and he was saying Saturday's auction place is one of the most expensive around... but he was still buying stuff at OTT prices..
brown furniture, you couldn't give away going back 10 - 15 years ago, now its a premium price... but then people are now realising the flatpack stuff is crap, and once its in place you cant move it, otherwise it will fall apart lol..
managed to get the big sow straight into the trailer, but the other sow.. is being a git, so will leave it and try another day..
Just wish we didn't have to go to work.. and spend all day, everyday up the ranch...
one day, maybe one day...( 'sighs' and carries on daydreaming lol)Work to live= not live to work0 -
update on the outback camera..
so far we have caught on the camera..
a back end of a fox passing by
and my last remaining chicken's bum lol..
so we are going to move the camera to a different position..
even though we didn't see all the fox.. it did seem in lovely condition.. it was during last night..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Took advantage of the clear day to further prepare the garden for winter. I reckon last year was unusually mild with us, so mulched some of the more marginal plants like potato-vine with bark. Never done this before, so hope it gives some benefit.
Also took cuttings of the verbena bonariensis, will try to root these in water on the window-sill before potting up.
Last thing as it was getting dark, took the two box in tubs from the NE facing front door to around the back to get most light during the winter.0 -

I have found that the internet bidding capability has raised auction prices through the roof round here. Great for selling mind, but not good for buying stock to sell on0 -
Down to maybe -3c tonight....can't you just tell I'm removing the loft insulation! :rotfl:
DD2 coming tomorrow as a health tourist. She has a NHS dentist here...and pain. You tell them, "Register where you're living now, before you need to." but do they listen?
I was speaking with the neighbour to the inappropriate polytunnel today, who told me the plot it stands on sold for the full £30k. He's a bit miffed because he had the chance to buy it himself a few years ago, much cheaper than that.
So, it seems we have someone totally mad, with plenty of money, intending to grow 'something' in the occasionally flooded frost-pocket down the hill.
The squash have been selling steadily, but someone pinched two today. That's rare.0 -
Forecast is for chilly here tonight too Dave
And, its finally stopped raining - woo hoo :jIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

def a noticeable drop in temp tonight.. and will not be surprised if we have frost by morning.
Well hubby and eldest picked up the bathroom suite, they also give us the u-bend things etc.. it is absolutely like new... ok apart from the sealer around the shower tray, its like its just been delivered from the shop..so an absolute bargain...
oooo ye hubby is more impressed with the toilet seat, as its one of those that goes down slowly lol..
its already up in the bathroom part of upstairs... and hubby can confirm when sitting on the 'throne' he can see who is walking passed hahaha..
Davesnave, what a poop about 2 stolen squashes,Work to live= not live to work0 -

LOL :rotfl:
Although I agree with Mr CTC I like the soft close toilet seats too. Don't wake the whole household if you drop it in the dark by accident in the night.
Sounds like your bathroom suite was a real bargain :T:T:T
Chilly here this morning, down to freezing but not quite a ground frost. Chucks are relieved that it isn't still raining. Poor things got rained on yesterday from the moment they put their beaks out fo the coop to the moment they went to bed. There is some shelter in the run, but they are reluctant to use it as they don't want to miss out on any possible titbit of food.
Tiler coming back this morning to carry on with the utility. The tiles Mr BD bought last week were £12.99 a box, up from £5.99 in the summer. We needed a couple of extra boxes and they were £6.99 on Sunday - pricing madness at Homebase.:(It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
