    Awww! :(

Our DD1 is one of those who passes everything first time, but DD2 failed on the computer bit about 3 times, and as you'll know, that meant she had to do the whole written test again and again. Great for a dyslexic!

She was funding it all herself too. We knew once she could actually get out in the car she'd pass, no problem, and that was the case. To this day, we don't know what her problem was with the simulations....they were all fine done at home.

Hopefully, your DD won't have to go through more than another one. It's a real rite of passage, isn't it! ;)

Hope everyone is getting ove the lurgy & CTC boar raised loads of dosh.

The pellet stove thing seems to be de rigour, but I do wonder about the price of pellets. I will be able to use just logs & anthracite in the rayburn if I want. But as we seem to have so many trees it will mean we can get free fuel. Well free apart from calor gas & electrickery stuff.

Sorry to hear of mortgage woes. We've struggled but not gone the mortgage route & Idon't know if it was wise or not - we would have it easier but there again it means that we can live a lot cheaper in the future - less pressure.I try & live as cheapo as poss, but it is hard. I do get a shock when looking at 'real prices' ie new clothes, hairdressers - haven't been to one in over 20 years! You can tell......
  • morning all,

Well Mr Boar sold... for £134 which I am totally shocked at, I was expecting about £60.

by all accounts the quality of pigs there were very poor, skinny and rough looking, so our Mr Boar, stood out like a sore thumb, being the best condition and fat lol...
sad to see him go, as will prob be sauages in the next few days.. but got to be realistic..

the piglets that would normally sell in Carmarthen for between £1 - £5 sold for £70!!!!! each .. again poor quality and as hubby said looked as though they could do with a good feed...

Its their Christmas bacon pig sale in 2 weeks... so we will be taking all the piglets up, ( well the ones we are not going to keep) so fingers crossed they will fetch a good price...

Yesturdays prices could have been a good blip, so will def be going there regular to see they price patterns there.

There is also a poultry auction on the same days as the pigs...

there is a pig auction the week before Christmas, which is too late for people to buy pigs for the Christmas market, so we were thinking of going up with an empty trailer, and see if the prices are rock bottom??? as in theory there shouldn't be a great demand for pigs on that sale..

What I have learned with the pigs....no need to buy fancy breed pigs, and always go for white pigs, as these bring the most money....

right going now to top up/sort out our stall at the antique centre.. haven't been there for months, and sales have hit a all time low, so needs a re-vamp..

    catch you all later

Ghostly plants are mostly cannas brought it so the last flowers can be enjoyed rather than be destroyed by wind/rain.

The weather here has been foul, so our builder moved indoors, finished off a temporary door + partition and then started demolishing walls. We're safe behind the partition, for now at any rate! :D

Meanwhile, I rang an "energy organisation" which shall remain nameless. They've made us a time-limited offer on free insulation, because next year's government money will probably go to other post codes not receiving it now. In other words, we either have it, or do without. :(

So, next week, I will make our insulation disappear, the surveyor will arrive, find no insulation and make a recommendation for 300mm throughout. After he's gone, I'll put back the existing stuff, and then the installation guys lay the extra 300mm on top! That way, when the sparkies arrive, it'll be relatively easy to roll up the new stuff and look after it till we're done.

That's the plan. They're OK with this....which is why I'm not saying who they are. It's a fair bit of extra, unpleasant work for me, but hey, I wasn't doing much anyway! :rotfl:

Well done, CTC and your DH.:T It sounds as if travelling to other areas will be worth the extra effort when it comes to piggie auctions. :)

IHS all you need now is Father Christmas! ;)

My cannas didn't flower at all this year. I blame neglect: mine! :o

another damp start to the day ! theres almost a wet fog sat over us here. the rain/mist is SO fine its almost invisible....until you go out in it and get soaked !! im taking my mum to see dad today but im not going in. he just cannot get these germs ... so im masked , and dropping/collecting mum. i wake up on a morning [buried under quilt] and think " oooo i feel better ! not sniffing/coughing " then after 20 seconds of my head meeting air im off again.... sniff cough sniff ! i have some parcels to post then collect mum. i may be having 2 likkle dogs to stay next week. i walk them on an evening for them but HE is working away next week and she is working long shifts [doctor] so easier for me to have them rather than go twice a day to let them out... so may be a "one flew over the cuckoo's nest" house next week.....
