Just found this inspiring thread, so much knowledge!
I have been a fan of the amazing Eco architect Michael Reynolds, I watched a documentary of him building an Earthship Eco House from scratch (and rubbish) and it has inspired me to build my own version of one. So the financial plan has been written for 2015 and it will be earn, save, earn, save for the forseeable future. This is a photo of the interior of one of his houses - all those plants in the 'beds' are fed by filtered grey water.Flowers are sunshine for the soul0 -

Oh Alfie. Keeping still must be killing you.
I've taken a big leap here and hired a cleaning company. I only interviewed one. In short, the boss is bubbly and her name rhymed with yours. I thought.....it will either work or not. It will mean hopefully I make more progress here. Seems like a big lot of money for something I should be doing but....they started today and she rushes around like you too Alfie!0 -

rather know the feeling; last week's sniff developed into a full-blown chest infection. Only sleeping a couple of hours and then trying to cough and splutter into some sort of semblence of human.
Spent two nights sleeping sitting up and that seemed to do it, along with elderberry juice to ease the cough.
lir - makes sense if she can do the basic stuff and free you up to do the stuff that needs knowledge and experience. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Oh dear, the lurgy seems to be spreading, so let's hope we don't give it to Poppy....Hello there!:hello:
Not a great day here, as the rain forced our builder inside, somewhat unprepared for the tasks we had in store for him, such as working out how the woodburner's heating circuit is plumbed, and then cutting off the 1/3 of the house we wish to work on next.
For the first time, he was baffled. Being fair, he isn't a plumber, so in the end I found one living locally who says he'll pop in tomorrow to give it a quick look, then arrange a day & time. Might be useful if he turns out OK.;)
After lots of grovelling around, I've worked out how to do the cut-off, as we can't knock down walls that have radiators attached! It will involve putting temporary pipes up a couple of walls and hanging a radiator in a very silly place, but none of that matters. The house is gradually being wrecked anyway!
We weren't going to do any of this till spring, when the whole lot will be ripped-out, but we've got ahead of ourselves...:o
In other news, we've sold 6 squash at the gate so far.
Glad your track is back, choille.
Sounds like DD1 has the right idea, rhiwfield, but with the time this place is taking moving out isn't really an option for us cost-wise....though there is always the caravan! :eek:0 -

Good for Bimble! You can't go for a wash & brush up if you're clean can you? Ain't logical! :rotfl:
I finally removed the very last item from the loft today - a dolls' house!
It was here when we arrived, and behind the water tanks, so it wasn't found for a while. It's like this one:

When I have a few minutes I'll open it up and take a few pictures. Probably Bay it later.0 -
