There's an old, thatched B&B close to us. DW's parents stayed there in winter.....once! :rotfl:

It's lovely and warm here in [STRIKE]my[/STRIKE] our thatch Dave :rotfl:

Hope all you guys, new and not so new are ok?

Just stopping by quickly to catch up as it's all go here (what's new, eh?) what with our impending move - exchange possibly happening next week now and am sooooo excited I can hardly think straight - but having the usual few issues along the way (buyer's searches taking forever, removers fully booked in the run up to a Christmas etc etc), then DH has been off helping DS with his and the GF's newly purchased Brighton pad, so I've been left fielding calls from solicitors, visits from removal firms etc as well as starting to think about packing our ton of *stuff* :o

Anyhoo, we dropped into the Antiques & Vintage fair in Salisbury yesterday - think we saw Alfie as I recognised your sign ;) but didn't want to interrupt as you looked busy! Hope you had a successful day :) It was awfully crammed full of traders and buyers when we were there - didn't buy anything really as there wasn't any good Art Nouveau or Arts & Crafts (our passion :D) there, but DH did get a few bits for the business.....

CTC - pleased you won your bath and that things are progressing at the ranch :) We've had free-standing baths at our last four houses and stand-pipes on the last three baths. Our current ones are Hansgrohe Axor Montreux and they are very sturdy - we've certainly never used them to get out of the bath btw and can't imagine why anyone would do that.....

LIR - sorry we missed you at the fair.....and that your trip into Salisbury was a little disappointing. Did you venture into the newly re-furbed Waitrose though? We popped there on Saturday and couldn't decide whether to try out the juice bar, wine bar or both, lol! Juice bar won, btw :D I meant to post before about your building regs sign off - did you use an independent inspector? We did and found he was far more accommodating - not in a bad way, but seemed a little less pernickety perhaps than previous council inspectors we've dealt with - and got all our work signed off just in time for selling up, thankfully. Hope you get your current phase signed off soon x

Rhiwfield - your B&B hosts - and the place itself - sound amazing, bless them......

Dave - we've never had a Bette bath, but having a few friends in the bathroom industry (from DH's past life in interiors ;)), I can say that they always came highly recommended and I think we'll be putting one of these in the family bathroom in the new house......as it's hopefully the *forever* house I'm planning on splashing out (apologies for terrible pun :p) on either an Urquiola or a copper bath - a William Holland would be my first choice, but think we'll have more pressing places to spend our dosh initially......

In the meantime I'm hoping the weather stays reasonably calm as one of my first jobs if/when we move in is to scale a ladder in order to tame a rampant wisteria currently scrambling over the third storey roof  Just the first of many garden-related jobettes I've got lined up......

Congrats CTC on the bath suite.

LIR - I did a sky with clouds ceiling in a cottage kitchen about 30 years ago & my bruvva said - I can see you've undercoated the cracks but when are you going paint it all the same colour! I liked it & that's the main thing.

OH gets up & goes on the digga. I'm a digga widda during daylight hours. The tracks really come on a pace.

Alfie the show sounds interesting if not as successful as you hoped. You have to try these things. I suppose. I thought of you today when in Ullapool I saw a Postcard with little Shetlands wearing Shetland jumpers on Shetland - lovely postcard.

You see there is little population really here to make a go of a business type shop thing. I don't know how folks are surving. Not a lot of money about.

Drizzly day & did a bit of listing on the Bay. Seem to have a mouse problem in the shed. Trapping loads at the mo.

Well, I've been using my time very productively reading reviews on Amazon
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5116186

    And uranium ore

Might cheer you up a bit alfie - hope you feel better soon. Both Mr BD and I think we have a cold coming so are trying to ward off the germs with zinc and vit c lozenges.

People keep warning me against copper baths phoebe ( fir really wants one). I'm not keen on the 'more upright position' many of them encourage, I like to lounge in the bath with a book. I know we're going to have to replace joists in the en suite. Quite tempted to stick another rsj or two in there ( pfft, as if money were nothing) where the bath will be and keep an eye out for a second hand marble bath. We can wait for a long time for the right bath.

Sorry alfie, busy day back on the building site! :o Let's hope you aren't out of action for long. :) There's a lot of this pre-winter lurgy about and DW is coughing away like a 40-a-day-er tonight. :(

Here, it turned into a very nice day, which was just as well, as the chimney flashing and pointing (well you'd point if you saw our builder flashing! :p) had to be attended to toot-sweet. That's because the scaffolding had to come down by next Tuesday, or we'd be into surcharge.

I say 'had' because all that's changed. When 3 of us went up on the new second rise bit, there was a sudden 'crack' and the deck dropped about 3"!:eek::eek: The scaffolders had done the supports wrong and one had broken three tiles in its downward journey. We were just relieved that's all it was.

Anyway, scaffolders came out before I could even take a photo, got the offending bit sorted properly, we put three replacement tiles in and all was well.

No need to rush now - we can have the scaffolding as long as we need it FoC! :D

Love the Amazon reviews Better Days! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Alfie - I am so out of date with brands, but I shall keep my eye out.

I've been listing today, but things are quiet on the bay. I seem to be spending a bit - bought a plaster board lifter the other night, as you do.

I haven't got my hay in yet. Must do that soon.

LIR - I know where there's a massive marble bath in storage but the haulage would be ridiculous.

Dave you've been very busy. Hope everyone with the lurgy get betta soon.

OH is jiggered having finished the track roughly. He spent a long time picking up stones. Digga goes back to its owner tomorra. Gorgeous day today but I've had my head down on listing & other workish stuff.
Watching a film on China, adultary & typhoid - beautiful scenery.

Alf, get well soon, at least you are having some kerchings from paypal.

Dave, that could have been very nasty!

Busy day on the Bay so lots of packing this morning, though quite a few easy ones like postcards. And will be listing more postcards, including those of an old taxidermy mueseum, very freaky.

DD2 has a prolapsed disk and is high on morphine. She is an incredibly intelligent person who cant switch off her brain, but the drugs/pain are affecting her so much she cannot work and is bored stiff. Lots of phone calls yesterday with her voice all over the place. Poor lass :(

One GD stayed with us last night while the other two were performing in a Shakespeare play in the city. House will be chockers from this weekend as DD1 and family stay with us so that builders can rip up floors, relay and progress an extension
