as for you Davey boy... ONE item from a free for all !!!! id have ended up with a boot full of "that will come in handy one day for someone" stuff....:rotfl:.I did put in a bid for something else, but it was so special, I felt it would be mean to just take it. It's not valuable, just something made with great care and skill, which ought to go back whence it came......but maybe no one will want to bother...in which case I'll have it!
My 'other symptoms' did turn out to be back-related. I was getting painful pins & needles in my arm/hand, especially while driving, but yesterday, just reaching into the mower to clear a blockage, I got a truly awful pain in the shoulder that made me yell out loud.....and hey presto, no more pins & needles! Must've been a trapped nerve or something.
Coincidentally, my niece's husband dislocated his shoulder trying to grab their dog on Sunday. She's a nurse and knew what had happened, but lacked the strength to pull it back into line, so they both ended up at A&E!
Alfie, mind how you grab those pups!:rotfl:
It was 'swop the drains over' day today. Like a military operation, we planned it so that there was only ten minutes when the loos and sinks couldn't be used. I'm so relieved that's over in dry weather, as it could so easily have turned into trench warfare out there!
We've been so blessed when working on both roof and drains, considering the inconsistent overall weather patterns in the last few years. Next is foundations for the conservatory, but there's time more flexibility with that than there is with the building's main poo pipe!
Glad you sold some stuff on the Bay, choille. I need to get more on there too. I have doors, doors, and more doors.....:)0 -
HAPPY BIRFDAY CTC......
:bdaycake: :iloveyou: :beer:0 -
An Inspector Calls! ....and it wasn't the nice guy who was overseeing our build previously, because he's moved on.
Luckily, this new guy proved to be not only quick on the uptake, but also pragmatic about the issues we faced with the drains. So, although what we've done isn't entirely by the book, he could see why we did what we've done and he was happy to pass it.....Phew!
We had visitors at the weekend and more today, so we've done the guided tour twice in a week. This pair have taken on more than us, and in France, so our little adventure probably looked like a walk in the park to them.
I now rather fancy a huge French farmhouse and a lake.....
Someone say Birfday? .....Wot?.... CTC is 42? Ah, right....
Have a good one CTC. This is one you'll remember, if only for the temperatures!_party_0 -
thank you Alfie and Davesnave..
I am 18 but with an extra 32 years experience :rotfl::rotfl:
it is a quiet one,, was in work at 6am this morning. finished at 2pm done a bit of 'skip diving' lol.. ( got permission from a place to take/ salavage wood and any waste etc) and then done some food shopping.
Choille. I have worked right through since last Wednesday. and it looks as though this agency placement is def until Friday. maybe next week, I did speak to them today, and there is other work, but I do have to travel a fair distance, but if its short term I don't mind while there is still loads of building work etc. it makes sense for me to try and work full time and for hubby to be home.
I wish I could make a livable wage from ebay, but with the way ebay is, I would be working more on ebay than actually working to get the same wage iyswim.
we need to be fully moved in and settled here, so then we can get our little ideas into practice properlyWork to live= not live to work0 -

Swanning in to wave hello, that I wish I could have a piggy and I got a kick of the 'lir's good taste' posts.
.
We have now only one dog, and no horses! It's like another world.
I am. Dry much in touch with Alfie, she is one of the people I love most in the world, and it's only because I care for her so much that she is getting her terrier back this summer, other wise I'd be keeping him.
Swanning off now! Miss you all, hope you are cutting hay in this weather you lot wi grass, and the rest of you are watering this spring's excess rain fall away.0 -
I knew id drag LIR out here
what with my sister telling me she may change the locks here whilst she's house sitting and bimble taking up heaven residence in a barn or two and being spoilt rotten... what am I gonna come back to !!
flights are booked, insurance sorted, spending money pending and oft we go .....:D 4.4 weeks to lift off :j0 -
Hi, lir...
Thanks for helping alfie to have a well-deserved break, though I doubt looking after Bimble will be too onerous!0 -
I thought I was unique, the only person anywhere allowed a birthday today... You mean I have to share???_pale_ Do I have to share the cake? Do hope not, it's almost all gone!
Anyway, Happy Birthday, CTC, have some of my Tiramisu, it's soft, gooey and packed with cream and alcohol.... small bit only, there you go, bit small..... No, go on, have a chunk, and loads of cream....
Anyway, loving wife did me proud. Real pressies, nice ones. As you know from earlier, I treated her to some wonderful gifts back - vacuum cleaner and poo trolley are pride of place - and she just loves them:p... I should point out, she bought me drain rods for one of hers! :eek:We never claimed to be sane.
My big treat outing was to go to the nearest garden centre. I have not allowed myself these past seven months. That has been SO difficult! I knew it was small, I believed it was good... but I wasn't expecting to wet myself with joy! Two trolleys later I piled the car full of new babies - to join the (still) 1,300 pots still to plant. My water bill in this weather is going to be murder. But, at least I haven't murdered my plants
Health wise, settled down. Still choke if I do much, found out I am fairly seriously asthmatic, masked by hay/cat fever, so given steroids and inhalers galore, told to avoid cats, pollen, alcohol, anything I like, and all will be well. Chest X-ray caused a minor panic, wifey who knows these things very well caught a glimpse on the screen, just a flash, and went white. I saw, and looked a little... pukey, to say the least.... Well, I know she knows her stuff... Luckily, the radiologist noticed, and pointed out there was a lag, and the screen had the last recorded image up, not mine. Radiologist also sensibly told wife to burger off while she did her job, did it, then showed wifey image when she'd done, so it must be OK. Rather sorry for last chap now, as we chatted whilst waiting.
Anyway, following medical advice, I have, of course, avoided animals (get off my lap, cat), plants (no, there aren't another thirty nine or so in the courtyard, and I didn't cut a bit of the big field with the tractor to make some hay for donks ) , and have imbibed no (more) alcohol (than my wife). :A
Tomorrow is another holiday for me, and I'm determined ill-health isn't going to interfere any more, so there!
Best wishes to all, and love to all four (aaaaa) legged (CHOOOOOOHHH!) friends, none of which I react to!:D:D
