I would take one (dolly mixture) Alfie - hairy cat could do with a bit less attention.
Local politics can get really heavy - must be the weather or something. We have little to do with ours as it can get quite toxic for such a sparsely populated area.
WE don't drink in the local ( 4 miles away) and we don't gossip in the local shop. I think people think we are a bit up our asses, but it is a minefield sometimes.
Very fly heavy air today & cloudy so off out.0 -
Dolphins are back again feeding on all the mackerel. Nice to see, but the weather is a bit dismal.0

hi all
well... last T time I looked out from upstairs across field to check on jim jam [stallion]... couldn't see him so assumed amongst the trees.
looked out at 9pm... no sign of him still [he normally moves about a lot].. having just got out of the bath , in a tatty old dressing gown I nipped down the track , over farm 5 bar gate, across to field... no sign of him !!!!
so I raced back, got dressed, grabbed a torch and headcollar/rope and set of through the next field to check fencing [clues as to direction of escape !] couldn't find any breaks ??
puzzled I traipsed through a bit of a bog [short cut in my panic ] and stood calling his name...
yep, he was fast asleep in the long grass and got up, stretched and looked at the "bog creature/fly bitten ME" as if to say WHAT ?.........:o
oh the joy of animogs... I had to go back and have another bath !
puppies are superb.. kittens are great [now] in fact I have 2 sat watching me type and contributing by pouncing on the keyboard ...
been about 18-20d today but misted over and drizzled about 7pm..
went to collect today a big HEAVY, in many pieces stone fireplace [free].. proper posh lady who asked me if I came from ****** [ a particular area in lymington that is known for being a tad unsavoury]... looked her straight in the eye and said no ..... bucklers hard... [known for being "savoury" ] ooooooooo she went... and said "really ?"... cheeky moo....
took her fireplace and left her red faced ....hahahaha
will sell that !!0 -

I guess we're like that too, but to be honest, a lot of the local politics probably goes over our heads! We're largely unaware of any, but it wouldn't be a 'normal' place without some.
We show our faces and try to support things, like a couple of gardens open for Macmillan today, which showed us a side of the village we've not seen much of.
It was good to get out and see these real gardens, which face the same sort of problems as ours...... and overcome them. :A
Then I learned that both have a visiting gardener! :rotfl:
You're as bad as me alfie. I was out walking the road and the lane for half an hour when our hairy cat didn't come home one night. Then I saw a shadow slip out of the wonky soffits onto the scaffolding we had up then. She'd been sleeping in the loft for about 8 hours!0 -
hello hello wherever you are .....
had freeby members tickets to the NF show today so went with friend for 3hrs.. mainly to see the met horse mounted police display... very good ! the obligatory hot tub stands ? do not define a "country " show to me. the animal sectors have got smaller and the trade stands bigger ..... sad as only the "big boys" can afford to exhibit now.
got interest in the last little puppy.. but will be picky ! ;-)
been a cooler day today but still 20.
weve [well postie] have cut one 5 acre field for hay last weekend and got a good amount. 2nd field will be done soon.. they reckon 700 + so happy.
postie gets the hay [ he does all the work] we get what we want/need [40-50] and always extra if we need it... keeps the fields in good nick and he does any horsey chores for us if needed... so all happy.0 -
Am ignoring overdue work...
I've been given a price for a reconditioned Aga which was lower than expected, which is good news.
I've won a few battles with the garage and the garden too, so everything is feeling a bit less miserable although there is a long way to go (I spotted a mole run yesterday so need to get the mole traps out - at least I can find them now!).
I took a boot load of bits of staircase to the tip yesterday and when unearthing the rest of the pile found some more burnable wood to deal with. The rest of the staircase pieces are too big to go in the car, but I'm tempted to saw them up rather than wait for my brother to bring his van over in a couple of weeks.
It looks like our sewage plant may have damage to the vessel which is worrying. At the moment water is getting in, so the electricity bill is high - we need to have it emptied and inspected which will be expensive. Hopefully it can be repaired, as we don't have a sinking fund at the moment - however it is very close to end of life. At least two of the users won't be able to afford to pay their share of any replacement.
Wishing I could take Alfie's last puppy, but I need to be sensible...
Suppose I should either work or do some mowing...0 -
Poured it down again all day, so chap who was going to come to do some work outside didn't - which is understandable.
It's half grey light with low cloud. Keep seeing loads of very wet cyclists going past - must be a miserable holiday that. No let up for ages now.0 -
Too much going on here, so I've lost the plot, but we had more visitors, closely followed by DD2 and partner. In between, we filled the trenches and prepared for the next stage of digging.
But all the best laid plans....etc, etc..:(
Pete arrived to dig the foundation trenches. I warned him he'd come across the now redundant drain we've by-passed, but I didn't realise there was another we'd not touched, sitting alongside, and when he hit it, he didn't stop!
So, there was Pete, cheerfully hoiking-out the pipe that drains the bath and washbasin! Aaarrrgggghhhh! There was nothing for it then but to dig that section up again.
The rest of the digging went OK, except that part of the conservatory slab sits on the old house soakaway, which looks like beach pebbles. It is going to take much excavation and back-filling in concrete to get a stable base under there.
This morning it was raining, so our builder came over just to repair the pipework. Of course, as soon as he left, the sun came out, but I didn't mind, as it was the Olde Fayre in the town today, and that always seems to have and deserve good weather. :A
We stuck some plants down at the gate to catch the passing traffic and headed off to a hospital appt for DW, and after, to the largest brick suppliers in the area. There, reeling inside narrow canyons of totally confusing materials, we took 90 minutes to choose the bricks for the conservatory outer walls. I think they're quite ordinary , but at least we had one hell of a choice!
We took £16 in gate sales today.0 -
Very quiet here and my life seems to be work, eat, sleep, repeat. With house chores in between. The landscaper came and looked at the patio and the husband helped him measure up. Hubby reckons 60-70 square meters, it doesn't look such a big area but there are 2 paths and a section that goes around the side of the house. We haven't had a quote for doing the work yet but the stone we like ranges from £1700-£2700, depending on which colour we go for. Eek. Maybe I should just keep my scruffy old slabs and have a holiday instead0

Friends did paths with stone and it cost £16 a square metre which I thought was expensive, but they thought was cheap. The stone comes from India, so not very environmentally friendly.
At least the rain has stopped for now.
Good with the gate sales Dave.0
