Alfie the new pony sounds great. Maybe we always knew head strong Ruby wouldn't be quite so easy lol, isn't that why she's so adorable?!?!

My hairdresser has a cockerpoo as do a number of the customers. All adore them, one woman is up to 4. They are gorgeous dogs. They all have great homes but all did pay about £900 each. I think if someone can love the dog and give it the right home and they're willing to pay that, it shows their commitment.

I guess I agree BUT there is also "money" people that buy them as an accessory and its those I want to avoid... me thinks I will judge it on the person when I meet [interrogate] them ;)

    Recessive Gene? Ewan Mc Betta?

All this talk of animals, and all I have is cleaning roof tiles....:( Still, they'll all go up on Monday and that will be us more or less finished up there at last. :D

I would not re-roof a house again! My days of leaping from batten to batten are definitely coming to a close.

DW has managed to take a couple of days off with her folks, who are holidaying not far from you, alfie. I trust you had some decent weather today....because she's not been too impressed, knowing I've been basking in sunshine while they're enveloped in cloud. :p

Had a tourist here, wandering around the garden this afternoon, which was amusing to watch from the scaffolding. He was just looking for a human as he'd become disorientated searching for his holiday let.

I drew him a map. The idiots who own the place had sent him on a real wild goose chase, possibly to avoid the 'interesting' road out of Tiverton, but the trouble is, eventually, all the roads get 'interesting' round here.....! :rotfl:

I need to think about another car too, but it will have to wait. The current one is OK, but little things keep failing. Last week it was a wheel bearing, the week before the rear brakes needed doing, and now I hear the exhaust is beginning to blow. I'm loath to part with it, because since the part of the fuel injection that gives extra oomph at the bottom end packed-up, the fuel consumption has been amazing. As traffic light grand prix are hard to find in these parts, it's hardly a problem for us.

Been doing some unplanned work, decided to remove the ceanothus which, even after the mild winter, looked terrible with mostly bare stems.

The challenge was I'd planted Jasminum beesianum and Tropaeolum speciosum last year to disguise the bare stems :( Anyhow, lots of careful untangling and digging out and I replaced with a Physocarpus opulifolius Lady in Red over which I've put a large obelisk.

Wound the creepers around the obelisk, hopefully the Physocarpus will grow up and through the obelisk and the creepers continue upwards with the red flowers matching the foliage. We shall see!

Hot as Hell here, feel jiggered with it. Put some more varnish on front & back doors - inside & out.

Found a really nice Arts & Crafts coat hook thing which I wire brushed & re painted as it was a bit rusty. Aim to put it in the utility at the back, but the only wall it'll fit is the curved wall, so will see if it will bend when dry.

IHS - How about a massive name for new Mr Betta fish = Trident, Neptune...............Titanic....probably not the last one, but something that Mr Betta can aspire to.

Dave - Busy as ever. Hope you can get bits for your car okay & it doesn't get too major. I think we got rid of our last car when it started to cost us a lot of money - although I still see it around = all those new parts on it - I guess.

Alfie - new pony in the planning. That's exciting. The puppies - what a quandry, but as you rightly say, you don't want them going to the wrong sort, or getting sold on if you undersell them. How do yo know what breed they'll be? Do you know who the father is? Breed?

House feels boiling & got the windas open.

I'm sitting out on the patio (good wifi :)), reckon it's still 16 but the sun's just gone so I expects it'll get chilly quick. Parafin burners keeping midges away!

Just looking at the under-performers in the garden; rodgersia never re-appeared after the winter which is odd as it's rampant at my local NTS garden. The ginger lily hasn't done much, despite being in conservatory, and a few of the dahlia tubers haven't sprouted. Not been a good year for magnolia stellata, I had 4 miserable flowers. Oh, plus I had to remove the honeysuckle from one side of the pergola as it was always hit by mildew.

    Apart from that...:j

EDIT, also Betta now called Tancho
