Goodness Lucielle that looks very impressive.
Will you move there? It looks in a fabulous spot - some house - marvellous.0 -
Had to put Hairy Cat to sleep today, so a bit sad. He was nearly 20, and we did adopt him 6 years ago, to give him a 'last few months' of care. He was a magnificent friend, fighter to the end, and awfully hairy. Looked like a Norwegian Forest, but common moggie... Tough as old boots, SAS cat.
Oh well, barn doors up, just in time for the gales, water meadow flooding, ducks happy, donks looking damp...0 -
So sorry about Hairy cat - we have a magnificent hairy cat that I got from Cat's Protection - he's a biter though, but very gorgeous. Our old cat's lived to a grand old age.
You took a kind decision to have him PTS, but it does hurt as they are such a big part of your lives. Marvellous that he lived to such a grand old age & that you gave him those lovely years.
Lovely evening but the midges are out in force, so cowering indoors.
I must get my flock down to a more manageable level, but they are all like old friends so it's not an easy decision, but it's got to be as I am finding it too hard to do it all in a way.0 -
Hopefully move in 7 years time. Give the chaps time to find their feet and then we can !!!!!! off.
Going up tomorrow to check what they've left as we got it lock, stock and barrel. Meet the holiday cottage company, housekeeper and generally check it out. Not excited one little bit..............whooo

That's great forward-planning, lucielle!
Sorry to read your sad news, alfie, but look upon the aneurism as a lucky escape, if it can be operated on successfully. Both my parents had one, and survived long afterwards.
Had one of those days yesterday! Was watching something on the Bay, but just before bidding ended , we had a weird power cut, where there was still a dribble of leccy getting through, enough to turn the wheel thing on the meter, but not enough to run appliances. Never had that before! Anyway, the item sold, well below what I'd have paid......
Then the ride-on stopped, with petrol leaking out in quantity. The thoughtful Italian designers placed the carb interestingly close to and above the exhaust, so it was a wonder the thing didn't catch fire, but as I was on it at the time, maybe the fact that it only conked was a positive. :undecided
Roofing continues. We're on the final 1/3 of the rear roof and the most tricky bit too, where the extension, built in 1988, doesn't quite match up to the original bit. It's the same at ground level, where we have a tiny step between floors, but you can't do that on a roof....
Our hairy cat is a character too. Cannot run normally anywhere, unless being pursued, but bounds, just like a dog.0 -
Lucielle - It all sounds marvellous.:j You should pop in or we should meet up if you have time. The weather is stunning at the moment so that is always a bonus.
Sorry to hear of your missed opportunity Dave - how annoying is that. How odd with the electric - sounds like the grid was dipping. We used to have a funny supply when we lived on a farm. When they used the grain dryer you couldn't cook anything - couldn't even make toast.
One of the downsides of hairy cats is the slugs stuck to the under belly:eek:
Off to do a survey on a house in a beautiful beach location - well I go and hold the end of the tape. Get some fuel to finish off grass cut at side of track. Seem to be slowing up - too nice to charge about.0 -
More car viewing, took one on an extended test drive to my usual mechanic and he found £1,500 of work needed doing (underbody rust kills cars in Scotland). Next!
Been lifting the remaining wooden slats from the conservatory in preparation for laying vinyl. Have found one I like, a blue terrazzo so it won't show dirt and untextured so it can be mopped. In my last house I have heavily textured vinyl in the kitchen and it trapped every bit of grime.
Lost one of the betta fishProbably from swim bladder disease, which they are prone to. Vexing, as I liked Mr Sparkles. The other two seem OK, and I've bought a submersible UV light to put into the filter to help kill any bugs in the water.

Can you not get a good car from a reputable dealer IHS, so you have some sort of guarentee - like a trade in. Do a cash deal?
Shows how much I know about cars, not being able to drive one.
Hope the remaining betta fish stay ok.
RIP Mr Sparkles. That pet shop you get them from sounds a bit sus to me. You seem to not have much luck with the fish.
Know the textured vinyl - you have to scrub it to get it clean - wouldn't have that again either.
Gone quite grey & overcast this afternoon & chilly wind again.0 -
morning all...
no disasters so far for 5 days !!!
it is cloudy, warm but chill wind here. had to water all the plants last night..
no dolly mixtures so far ! false alarm last night tho.. she was huffing and puffing and fidgeting around but turns out to be a stomach upset ! which judging by my carpet was a good'n
poor gal looks like a ball on legs.. be glad when shes had them ...so will she I think !!
I note these cockerpoo's fetch stupid money ! some are 7-900  now im torn because I think this out prices people who would love one and give a super home but cannot afford that. I constantly think that at the end of the day its a mongrel !! and its become a fashion dog where the price they pay seems to make it in their eyes a "better" mongrel... ?? but by selling them much cheaper I have to be doubley sure they are not going to the wrong home !
friend has suggested that if I KNOW the prospective owner reduce the price and if I don't [but get convinced of good home] then up it a bit..... I don't know !!
suggestions welcome !0
