I'm still coughing and spluttering after two weeks :(

Heavy rain with us. Annoyingly, one downpour snapped a branch off the Lantana half-standard.

I fear I made a mistake - a "grave" error on my part! My profuse apologies to all those who were looking forward to further instalments from the Dracula saga...

Not many vampires are buried beneath a cross, let alone one engraved with their initials...

G.P.O. in this case. Followed by the Ordnance 'crow's foot' marker!

I suspect it might still be re-purposed, and a pet's grave, as the "cross" is made of the base (wot would be underground), and the G.P.O. mark is buried. But it does look good, amongst all the nettles and weeds. I shall make it a feature. There's certainly no cable there. Not for hundreds of yards.

Spent the entire day digging up ground elder from the front garden. I did find another shrub... so that's seven in total, for a 1.6 acre garden. I think the previous folks here were probably not that keen at gardening!

I shall now write out 100 times "I must not let my imagination run away with me"... :p

It could be worse. I came across many labels for choice things, of which there was no evidence whatever.

Fortunately, most I find now are blank, the ink having long since faded. The twit who lived here thought ink was longer lasting than pencil, so he used pen for all his decorative stuff. I can still read all the pencilled veggie labels I find. :(

Rained all day here; nice, steady rain that we really needed, or rather the plants and rivers did.

Hope alfie had a good selling day and didn't get too wet! :A

I spent the afternoon in the polytunnel potting-up to replace some of the plants we've sold in the past week. They go well at this time of year. Then I came in and spent half the profits on more seeds.:o

I've planted-out the first of the courgettes and squash, and we have plenty of mangy toot peas now. Cheated a week ago and planted out some of Mr Sainsbury's living lettuce, which now look pretty good! :o:o:o

    Lost my post! Grrrrrrrr

Hope you get mega sales Alfie - fingers crossed.

Hope the Dolly isn't going to have some little Dolly.....Mixtures?

Dafty - we were all intriqued about the grave - a GPO tombstone - That must be the guy's initials?

Rained & cold, but a lovely sunset this evening, turned the mountain red.
My cough has gone, but I still feel a bit whacked out - OH is still hacking away. Seems to be a bit of a lingerer.

Hope you are on the mend IHS.

Dave glad the septic tank is going to be regularly done - hope she sticks to it- literally!

I have used razor shells & write on them with pencil & they do stay clear. However, they do break quite easily if you tread on them.

    Go for it Alfie.

Incredibly heavy rain here this morning. Cloud bursts.

Trying to do some odds & ends - not concentrating at all.

Nice day with us, plenty of sun and breeze so everyone's out on Loch Lomond or yachting on the Clyde.

Visited my local NTS garden just as the azaleas etc. are at their best. Impressive to see, couldn't be doing with these colours for a moment in my garden!

It was a mixed day here. We set off this morning in rain which graduated to hail and torrential downpours by the time we'd crossed the edge of Dartmoor. We were on our way to an outdoor adventure centre, which isn't the sort of place we normally go!

It was all courtesy of a friend, who, having passed the big 60, decided she should start challenging herself....so she challenged all her friends as well. :(

All we had to do was climb up a tree about as high as a house, jump off a platform (after connecting ourselves to a zip wire) and whizz over a pond to land somewhere about 200m away, where we would sort of abseil down......:undecided

It was OK. Our friend absolutely hated it, and so did I, but no one bottled-out. Indeed, a few hardy younger/fitter members of the party did the aerial walk, which takes participants over a really hard balancing course at high level.....tightrope stuff and worse! They all made it, but it took them ages and they were pretty wobbly at the end. :T

So, we all paid for various forms of torture, including thrashing about inside big floating transparent balls and similar daft activities. However, the best bit was that the sun came out, lighting-up the site filled with hundreds of old parkland trees, and with the river running through, it was a superb setting.

Creeping away for a while, I sat by the river and saw a dipper; a bird that used to be common, but now quite a rare sight. That made my day! :D
