Maggie it is like a third World country.

Closing public toilets is a bit thing of mine. I had a visit from the list MSP & I raised my concerns with her & she said her mind was on higher things.
It's a sad reflection when that is the attitude.

I think we should have a shittt in.

Ha ha I love the idea of a shitt in!

Also get your thing about lack of public toilets. It's against the law to !!!! in the street (though obviously that's easier for males than females) but where else can you go?

The thing that really gets me is now people are being dragged into Jobcentres much more frequently, and for longer meetings. So to have no loos available is just awful. Can be totally unacceptable for some folks like the poor lady that I gave as example in petition. But if you've had a half hour journey in the cold you might well need a loo when arrive... Hard luck, go find one in a local restaurant. Not really an acceptable work around - and why should local restaurants take up the slack DWP refuse to? Grrrr! LOL

In the Building Regulations Scotland Act there is a bit where if you inhabit or frequent public premises they have to provide toilet facilities. Edinburgh insist that it has to be a toilet for males and another for females. This is not practised everywhere however. LIDLs now have a unisex/disabled toilet after the check outs.

That is why supermarkets & garages now have them.

Worth checking Building regs or at least enquiring about disabled facilities - they could possibly be breaching something under the Disabled Act?

Here you have to travel miles & miles before getting public toilets, those that exists usually are closed from end of September until May - too long to wait for most of us!

Do they have any drink vending machines? Because if they do then technically they are a cafe & have to provide toilet facilities for their patrons.

We talking Jobcentres here - they have nothing for the comfort of their "clients", not even toilets. Someone did an FOI about availability of toilets in Jobcentres. Doesn't make nice reading.

It's a matter of dignity, but I suspect it breaks human rights act too - I should look into that more.

For heaven's sake, we all need to go when we need to go! To not have loos available in Jobcentres just seems so wrong to me. Plus had a tweet from a Mum whose 3 yr old needed toilet - she was told to take her child to the Wimpy next door and use the loo there. Grrr what a dreadful response to the mother of a young child.

Snow overnight and again this morning. Glad I moved the tomato plants away from the window. Grungy chest infection but was able to get on the plot yesterday. Loads still to do but must get burning before the ban on Monday. Also trying to sort out in the house; success is getting stuff out so I can redo the place

    hi all

iv been trying to post a pic on here of my new doggie ! but my camera isn't recognised now for some reason and some weird picture thing has hijacked its place...

anyway.. she is a little sweetheart..:smileyhea

took her straight to vet on Monday when I got her to check for a micro chip incase a stolen/lost lady ! but none..
took her Tuesday for a complete check up... having had layers of knots/tangles/cr*p cut off her, turns out she has an ear infection... now washed out and treated, microchipped, wormed and sadly an eye problem..
took her to eye specialist yesterday and she is blind in one eye..:( vet suspects an eye injury that wasn't treated.
just gotta wait and see if she is pregnant now
anyway ***£'s later she is still a sweety.

she was bumping into things at first but soon got to grips with what was where...:)
oh ! and she can fart for England !!

its been sunny but cold here... the odd shower / sleet etc but nothing much..

this morning I was letting the dogs out and saw what I thought was a buzzard overhead [I throw my owls food chicks out for them to stop them eating our 3 new baby geese :o] and thought it looked a bit different as it dropped for the food.... it was a red tailed kite !!!:j people have said theres a pair over the otherside of the river in exbury but iv NEVER seen them ... it was stunning !

We all need a dose of warming sunshine now, RAS, not just sunshine that takes the edge off the bitter wind....Hope the chest clears up for you soon.:)

Today I had to transport a couple of ladies to the Tobygardenfest at Powderham Castle, which, to quote their blurb, are "the most talked about garden events in the UK’s gardening calendar."

So forget Chelsea or Hampton Court......:rotfl:

I was so impressed, that as soon as the ladies were delivered, I headed off to sort out some shopping and then maybe nip off to this great nursery..... ;)

I'd forgotten, South Devon is all about loads of people, traffic delays and holidaymakers arriving for the Bank Holiday break.....It took me over 15 minutes just to find a car parking space at one place. I kept thinking "But this never happens!"

Well, it doesn't in my bit of Deb'n. :p

Then the sat nav decided to get creative....

    So no nursery today. :(:(:(

Hi RAS are you doing some alterations?

Take care with the cough - it's doing the rounds here & is nasty. Are you getting banned from burning garden stuff down there?

Alfie the dog sounds like he's found a good spot.

There are many Red Kites over on the East here, but they are moving over closer each season. There was a spate of them being found poisoned a little while back with a few shooting Estates being suspected.

Very cold day again. Bright & clear so looking very beautiful. Feel jiggered with the cold virus thing.

Well done for sorting out doggie's needs alfie. She has fallen on her feet at last. :A

I've only seen red kites in Wales, but I guess as populations increase they'll have to spread out.

When I first lived in Bath, I never saw any buzzards, but gradually they came into the area, so eventually sightings were common, though not as common as they are here.

Still cold with us, but no repeat of the snow a few nights back.

However I heard that, as expected, the overall mild winter means a slug/snail problem this year. Certainly a delphinium has already been nibbled, despite pelleting. Once it's warmer, will be using nematodes.

I've ordered the cheapest electric lawn scarifier from Amazon, doubt it'll get used right away but wanted to keep the new(ish) lawn free of moss - v.difficult in Scotland.
