It's all looking good CTC. :T

When building, I find that while gains are appreciated at the time, familiarity soon creeps in, so it often feels as if not much is being achieved. That's when I feel it's useful to go back a year in the photo records, to see what we were doing at this point in 2015.

Not a lot happened here yesterday. We had a lovely day weather-wise, but I had to go gently on the remaining wall of the conservatory, removing only as much as is necessary to get the scaffolding in, as we hope to retain that piece as an internal divider between the new porch/conservatory. It's surprisingly well-built.

Scaffolding arrives tomorrow. as do our new battens etc, so not long now before we kick-off again here with something constructive, rather than just demolition. :)

We shall have some lambs here in a month or two, choille. Pete has finished lambing and he'll be bringing some ewes and lambs here for the summer, rather than doing hay. Suits us.

The ranch is really coming on CTC - hope it continues. I think we all have problems with workers not turning up, it wouldn't be the same if they were women. I don't think women would mess you around the same.

Managed to get the girl up top & she is huge. She's now sat at the side of the byre.

Four young blackbirds - all featherless in a nest in there.

Managed 1/2 an hour taking out the old raspberry canes which should've been done last year. Must admit they are looking a bit shabby, not sure what to do with them as I know I can't plant any replacements. Any ideas?

Did see some great plants when we were in Muncaster Castle in the lakes, called American Skunk Cabbage. Must look them up, anybody else heard of them?

They were in the mill leat, about 6' from where we were working when the builder and I fitted that door and two windows last week; dozens of them. And yes, they pong.

If you want one, you only have this year to find it, as the sale of them is being banned, along with a couple of other invasive species. Look for it as Lysichiton americanus.

Don't think it will work in our stream, as I've only ever seen it in sun. :(

Now I'm tempted, should do with the rodgersia pinnata ‘Chocolate Wings’ and gunnera.

Passion vine managed a flower, however with this cold snap forecast it, plus several other pot plants, will need to come into the garage for a few days!

I have mine indoors & mine hasn't flowered yet either.

Mind you with the snow last night most things will be frosted. My daffs are looking good this year.

Well, the scaffolding's up, but with chill winds blowing nothing except Arctic air and the occasional heavy shower our way, no one is interested in starting work on the roof!

It's days like this that make the polytunnel worth every penny! :D
