Horrible weather here too. Snow, sleet, cold wind :snow_grin I wouldn't fancy going up on a roof that's for sure.
I put a couple more Photinia Red Robin in yesterday, wondering if that wasn't such a good idea now, hopefully they will survive this arctic blast.
Love the floorboards, CTC, I bet it's going to look lovely when it's all done.'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
I was wrong!
No more rain after 10.00 and good, bright sunshine ever since. I've been down in the barn yard, totally sheltered, 'processing' the conservatory in my shirtsleeves.
The majority of the wood is sound, treated stuff, which will come in useful for something outdoors. I've just taken out all the nails & screws, chain-sawed the ends to right angles and collected the surplus as firewood.
Still not a roofing day, though!0 -
Very bitter day, loads of snow on the tops.
Wee Cuckoo lamb doing marvellously - what a good Mother.
I am choked with a nasty cough & cold. Internet been on/off for weeks now.
Engineer down today & seems we had a fault on the line. Phone been off all day & internet just coming on - fingers crossed. Spent over an hours on the phone. BT make me want to go berserk.
Just painted some skirting boards - not fitted yet - ask OH I am yet to fathom the way things are being done, and the order of it.0 -
The cold, drying wind continues, but despite it being an alleged 9c at best, I haven't had a jumper on all day. Apparently, it hailed huge things the size of 1/2p s two miles away at Pete's, but here we've been in the sun again.
I don't know where today went though.
I demolished and removed an old conservatory wall, went to the dentist, had a bonfire, potted things, watered everything and spent an hour in a position only WWF wrestlers get into, re-attaching the seat to one of the loos. Any bog seat fixings are the work of the devil, but inaccessible ones on designer style thrones..... Grrr! :mad:0 -
My Dicentra is out despite the weather. Looks nice, but still not done any gardening as such apart from pruning.
Cold has taken over & I feel ruff ruff, so I'm going back to bed after a coffee. No more lambs yet & they are all looking quite normal - whatever that is, so think it'll be a few days yet - famous last words.
Know what you mean about the modern toilet fittings - but they do look nice & are very easy to clean0 -
I have someone laving plants outside the front door of the ranch lol..
2 grape vines and a pot of garlic chives?? So are they garlic or chives? How do I look after them etc? Can I just plonk them in the ground ? Will they come every year? Or are they one year wonders??
I have hardly done anything in the garden, or the greenhouse:o, so got to get my butt into gearWork to live= not live to work0 -
The chives will look after themselves & seed everywhere.
Just eat a bit & taste it to see if it's garlicky or not. The chives will have a mauve flower.
Right off to my pit for a bit...how lazy am I?0 -
Hope you're son feeling better, choille. Nicer weather is on the way.
All chives are cut & come again, CTC, and the garlic nes have flatter, wider stems and nice white flowers, later than the ordinary ones.
I have garlic cress, which is perennial and very pretty in flower, though mostly inedible once full grown:

Having one of those days. Started strimming, then the head on the brushcutter jammed and needed surgery. Did that, then hit a water stop valve I'd forgotten about, so big plume of water everywhere.:(:o
Shut water off and then noticed the water shut-off valve in my Den was leaking just a teensy bit.........so almost closed the main valve to lower the pressure.;)
Fixed the damaged pipe, had lunch, and then Pete arrived with logs....but I didn't see him in time, so he dropped them all in front of the dry ones we're using .....Aaaarrrggghhh!
Moved logs.
Now I'll have to go into the Den, move everything, and see if I can fix that pipe....What could go wrong! :rotfl:0 -
I'm sorry I've been AWOL for so long. Been on Twitter trying to get people to sign my Petition for Claimants to have Toilets available.
Please sign if you can - any one of us can suddenly need help, get ill or have an accident or become disabled. I was just horrified to find out that Jobcentres don't have to allow people into toilets. We are obviously a third world country now.
On the positive side we had a nice sit out up the back of the garden yesterday in sunshine. And I more or less finished pruning the mis-shapen black current bush. I gather it's the wrong time to prune black current bushes, but it was a mess. I did the red current a few days earlier, it's supposedly the right time to prune that.
This evening we've had hail, lightning and thunder, then sleet followed by rain. I'm so glad I made the effort to get dressed and get out into the garden yesterday evening.0 -
Maggie it is like a third World country.
Closing public toilets is a bit thing of mine. I had a visit from the list MSP & I raised my concerns with her & she said her mind was on higher things.
It's a sad reflection when that is the attitude.
I think we should have a shittt in.0
