oh I bet that is sooo cute lucielle !
I need name suggestions for my new dog. shes a sweet cocker spaniel and needs a sweet name... I had thought JESS but its low in tone and as her hearings not brilliant I need a sharper in tone name.. but a girlie name.. thought BELLA, DAISY etc but not her !!
the red kite visits every day [am& pm] last night it was sat in the tree above a friend and I ,so I got up and threw a "chick" about 10ft from me and down it came ... same at the top horse field today.. now unless im going daft, they are not normally so bold ...SO it is possibly either a reared/rescue release or its escaped from somewhere... I could be wrong and it just knows where its breads buttered so to speak !!!! it is absolutely stunning !
also after kite left last night [6 ish] another falcon appeared... it wasn't a sparrow hawk or a kestrel, it was wood pidgeon size and colour and had whitish freckles on its back... nearest I can see in book is a MERLIN !!! I was gobsmacked and can only assume word is spreading in the bird world that some daft old bat is supplying nosh dailey................0 -
How about Isla for the dog name? I know she's not a Scottish breed, but poetic licence and all that.:D
My Aunt had a Cocker she called Bosun, but with her put-on Hyacinth Bucket accent, it always came out as "Basin!" Bloomin' hilarious. :rotfl:
Started on the roof today, and with the new, improved weather it's gone reasonably well so far. No rain forecast for a week, but we all know that can change!
Pete has a legal problem I'm working on, which could go well, or badly. He really needs a solicitor, not me, but I'm hoping the NFU can maybe step-in and take over....Can't say too much, but it's a typical 'little chap against those with money' situation. Grrrr!
Not very good on birds alfie, especially unusual ones, but I heard a skylark when up on the scaffolding today. Thought they'd all gone from here, so that was good.0 -
How about Sprocket Alfie.
Merlins are darker than Kestrels & have rapid wing beats which are noticeable.
I may have picked up an odd job...job, which would be good as there's nowt here job wise.
Very heavy rain & the croft is running with water. It's quite bad. No more lambs as yet.
The cold is still thick, but did do some little bits & bobs today rather than sleep.0 -
well I did laugh when friend asked me [if dog "in pup"] what they would be , eg cockerpoo's etc...
I said it would be a cockerdunno0 -

Arrrggghhh! Nearly off the front page! I guess the masses have discovered their gardens again.
Spent the night with no roof over 1/3 of bungalow. What faith in the Met Office, eh? :rotfl:
Forgot how hard roofing is, balanced on bits of wood all day lugging tiles about. Mustn't complain though, although it was mighty cold this morning.......:o0 -
go on Alfie you know you want too
sadly with an suspected litter on the way with one of the sows we picked up.. there is no way we can take on another pig, until we know how many extra mouths we will need to feed with the piglets..
we took the other sow we picked up to market today.. she is too unpredictable to have.. as if we put her in pig. we wouldn't know what way she would turn temprement wise when she had a litter... the little brown thing we had.. now she is on her own, is turning out to be a great little thing.. she is very vocal and talks lol, and you only got to say hello to her and she keels over for a belly rub..
started work in another cleaning job.. with an agency.. working in a government building.. couldn't stick the other one, it was a joke of a cleaning company... a haven't acked this much on my life lol... 3 hours an evening... so one of the girls weighed me in the post room lol.. and we are going to see how much weight I lose in one week ( I told her I didn't want to know my weight as I have put sooo much on lately I will cry lol) so she is only going to tell me how much I have lost..
so this week I am going to eat what I normally eat, and after next weeks weigh in I will start eating a bit healthier..
the Stanley is now plumbed in chimnley wise, so now looking for a plumber to plumb in the water tanks and heating pump etc.. we will run the pipework and do the radiators etc... and with this warm weather it really does lift you up.. so get a lot more done..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Just lost my post.
Good for you with the weigh in CTC - I've lost weight this past few weeks just with having the lurgy - my appetite is totally off, but I am pleased that the weight is coming off, but feel pretty weak & wan at the moment.
Good with the job - they sound a friendly bunch. Hope the job is not too arduous. I could do with getting something regular, but nowt on the go at the mo = there was a really huge holiday let, but what the pay was was really bad, yet they advertise it as top rates of pay. I can't get over how greedy some folks are.
Two more lambs this morning. The weather is really cold & very windy - heavy showers at times, poor things, but they all seem well & hardy - touch wood.
Must get changed & go vote.0 -
its min wage through an agency, but the hours suit its 3.45pm to 7pm. Monday to Friday.. so I can go the mid week auctions and have the best part of the day at the ranch..
think I was lucky.. tbh.. but its so hard going I think a lot of people don't think its worth the wage, but hours suit me.. and its really hard at mo as I am totally unfit..they do promise me it gets easier, the 2 girls I work with, one has been there 5 years, and the other 25 years.. and yes she is like a whippet.. not an ounce of fat on her..
i bought some jeans from peacocks a few weeks ago, nice fit, i was going to buy some more, as i find it hard to get nice comfortable jeans, but i think i will wait a few weeks and fingers crossed i will need at least the next size down!!!Work to live= not live to work0
